What's with people's aversion to WF/TF?

Whenever an item warforges or titanforges for me, it’s like a pleasant surprise.

I’m usually delighted.

On the forums, people act like this system randomly deletes their character. There’s so much hate for something that seems like a RNG gift.

What am I missing?

Some people are grumpy at the idea that people can run lower difficulty content, and get higher item level pieces of gear.

Some people are frustrated that they can’t really ever get a full set of “BiS” gear, because of how WF/TF works with Tertiary Stats and sockets, ect.

Some people are simply purists who don’t like new systems.

Some people don’t like the Pure RNG, and would prefer older systems, to give themselves more control over what items can be upgraded to target specific things.

There’s a few reason people cite as why they don’t like it.

I personally enjoy it. The few times I’ve gotten a nice item upgrade, it never was anything egregious, and felt like a nice bonus after several weeks of absolutely nothing.

I’ve heard people try to say that it somehow invalidates harder difficulty content, but I don’t personally believe it does, people also seem to like to exaggerate how often WF/TFing happens.

It would be more tolerated if it had a (lower?) cap.

Spending a few days or weeks on a particularly difficult raid boss only for all the loot to be useless because you’ve titanforged a few world quests or emissaries isn’t much fun.

You definitly haven’t been on the forum enought if you don’t know why people hate it. Just use the search function on the top right and type titanforge/titanforging. Have fun.

This happened to me.

I did a WQ and the item (a belt, I think?) titanforged to 440.

I laughed and equipped it as the stats were better than the +10 I’d gotten the original belt from.

It didn’t bother me.

From my perspective, it was a gift.

I dont mind it but i believe it should be toned down a bit.

Only +10 max. WF/TF should work in a way where gear from a lower diffucult cant be better than a piece from higher diffuculty. It can serve as a nice little bonus but not enough to push normal raid gear above heroic or even mythic.

No use in doing that when I can centralize it all right here, my dismissive friend!

Because it allows a trash player like myself have a chance to obtain good gear in their natural habitat (LFR)

I personally like WF/TF but that’s because I am trash, and I don’t enjoy doing Mythic + or Heroic raiding.

But to each their own I suppose.

Centralize you would say, I say just put more fuel on the fire :man_shrugging: It’s not like you bring any interesing/new point you’re just acting like those kind of people. “I like this, now prove me wrong”. Its on you to bring new interesting point. As long as you don’t, I consider this thread more close to trolling. And it’s not like people can change what you like, so it’s a bad way to engage discussion knowing that you’re just here to claim you like something.

So far, we’ve had a few different reasons proposed as to why others may be opposed to the system.

I like different perspectives.

What I hear so far is that entitled players don’t like warforging/titanforging.

RNG gods: “Hey look, I gave you bracers you’ve always wanted!”

Entitled mythic raider: “Sweet! Finally!”

RNG gods: “And, I’ve gone ahead and made them 15 item levels higher than normal.”

EMR: (puts them down in disgust) “What, no socket? This system is stupid!”

RNG gods, “Wait, what happened here?”

Everyone is entitled if we follow the forums logic. Why is someone “entitled” when he does more difficult work expecting more reward? That’s just basic capitalism. Make your own opinion about it, it’s not like people will change their stance on this subject that has been talked too much.

Sure, you can put words in people’s mouths if you don’t agree with their opinions. That should work.

well you finally get a piece you have trying to get for weeks and it finally drop regular but the guy next to you got titanforge first raid week. Bet you will be sayin “that’s f’ed up” also. Not bothering with this expansion as long as I have to fill up a piece of gear with azurite to unlock random traits.

Oh I see, you’re trying to start a flame war, while pretending innocence.

Now I understand why you didn’t bother looking for existing WF/TF threads. It’s because you’re already fully aware of the strongly held & diverse opinions in GD.

This is where it’s important to not base my happiness off of other people’s things.

Keeping up with the Jones’ is a surefire way to remain miserable.

I’d rather they make it work more like Benthic gear than lower the cap. Give players a little more control over the system instead of being so completely at the mercy of RNG.

Even without WF/TF that would still be an imbalance with how long some people can go without getting the item they want while other players get it on their first try.

So then you’re okay with them removing WF/TF, right? After all, people who only do world quests shouldn’t worry about the fact that raiders have a higher ilvl, right?

We did that in MoP.

I’m not sure farming/grinding is better than random.

WF is fine
TF should DIAF.

no, you really don’t.

you have your mind made up, and you’re just going to fling insults at people who feel differently about this than you do.
