I’ve seen so many people on the forums over the years act as if flying is the only reason they play which makes me ask myself. How is wow the best flight related game on the market to these? There are tons of flight sims, there are plenty of like fighter jet games. There are flight racing games, action, adventure, literally every type of genre that focuses on flying.
Its not even a selling point of wow, its not like there is end game flight progression, achievements anything. It’s literally just a mode of transportation. I get it I enjoy the convenience too but I don’t play wow cause flying nor would I ever leave cause I can’t fly even if removed completely.
Edit: To be clear I do think they should just give us flying asap what I’m really confused about is the extreme levels some people act as if not bring able to fly effects thier enjoyment of the game. There are seemingly so many too, to me it would be like quitting mario kart cause they removed the parachute mechanic or something along those lines

because it’s nice to just be able to do things quicker not slower or at least for me anyway

For me, flight is fun. Plenty of shenanigans to be had and do in flight. As well, plenty of flying mounts ugly and pretty have more depth and detail to them than that of the standard ground mounts.

When blizzard keeps making multi-layered zones which are hard to navigate without flying, its hard to not want flying.
COUGH COUGH REVENDRETH COUGH COUGH

Simple for alot of people it’s once they get a taste of flight and being able to skip everything they will always do it because you know people and being lazy goes hand in hand nowadays.

Since it’s a feature we’ve all become used to over the years (many years) not having it can be quite inconvenient. I suppose I could also communicate with my neighbor via smoke signals but I prefer texting. Besides, most of your quest time in the open world is spent just getting there or at least it feels that way. The first 3,291 times you travel through a zone on foot, I admit - it’s charming… but then…

I probably won’t be able to get all the rares and treasures completed until I get flying. Terrain is one of my biggest obstacles at the moment.

I get that, I also find a lot of the newer world quests are like right by flight points so doing the 1 or 2 i actually do isn’t too rough. Helps world quests arent really maditory anymore too.
Because to them WoW is a checklist that they want to do in 20 minutes vs 45 so they can…log off and go do other things, I guess.
Plus being on the ground you have to use your brain to get around. With flight you can completely phase out and just follow the pretty quest marker.

Just as there are those the believe flight ruins the game because it destroys wpvp.
It’s all opinions, and mine would be to disable flight in Warmode. Everyone’s happy, players that don’t care for PvP can fly, and PvP players get their wpvp with the bonus of flight by turning Warmode off.
Tada! Now flame me to oblivion.

Q) there are plenty of pvp games out there why put in game. A) some people like to do it . Same with flying some people like to not waste time trying to navigate around objects and mobs. Funny how different people like different things.

I kinda like earning flight, if only because i really enjoy actually having to plan out the route i’m going to take in games. Like how in super metroid, you can go pretty much anywhere you want after a couple upgrades but, doing so requires you to actually know how to navigate the terrain very well. Similarly, in rpgs like breath of fire or final fantasy, things tend to get a lil boring world wise once i can fly because i essentially can skip over any and every obstacle at that point. Suddenly the world stops feeling like a world once i can just fly over entire continents in seconds.
If someone has to skip a movie to the end the answer is not to make the movie unskippable, it is to make an actually good movie that people won’t want to skip.
Sadly the development team is supported by people like you, that encourage them to make things tedious instead of fun.

Because everyone wants to do everything as fast as physically possible and complete everything as fast as they can
Instant gratification is very popular with people nowadays

If you don’t like flying you shouldn’t actively stand on the way of those who do like it…
If you don’t like it’s fine… no onw is forcing you… no point on standing on the way.

Revendreth is one of the easiest zones to navigate though
Buu!
nothing better than switching to shaman and TStorming AFKers up high in the sky and glider down after they go splatter on the ground.
well then i simple have to ask why you watching that movie if you don’t like it, also it’s not tedious it’s called being out in the open world if they gave flying out right away guess what you would see next to no one out in the open world they would all be in the air like normal making the game boring.
Until the time that blizz makes air mobs that will knock people outta the air, chase and add air combat we are going to have to wait until the release it also if you arn’t having fun why are you still here.

Everything you just said is absolutely dripping with subjective wording.
Who determines good and fun? I am currently enjoying the ground game. I don’t mind navigating the zones at all. Even in Revendreth it is as simple as looking up to find one of the dozen elevators.
There are so many ways to get around that not only make it easier, but much more fun. Toys, spells, perks, shortcuts; If people are just running everywhere following the road or trying to cut through the woods full of mobs, it’s more of a them issue. I mentioned earlier it takes a little bit of brain power, but it is a more rewarding experience.

Convenience. It’s really the only right answer to this question.
