Hey blizzard thought you clamped down on this BS can you get back on that, thanks.
You could start by helping out by reporting groups for advertisement
It’ll always be there, and folks will break the rules because they don’t care because folks don’t want to report other people, so… folks stick around for longer and being able to do stuff they aren’t allowed to do
gets old pretty quick. ive been doing it ~daily for about 2 years without anything good coming out of it
all they did is add some authenticator prereq for group notes/title which doesnt stop the advertisers but does put a stick in the wheel of legit players that dont have/want a phone.
so what i got for reporting them for 2 years is less functionalities for myself lol.
i mean…I have and it seems to be doing nada.
Its like spitting on a gas fueled fire at this point.
And then…
They made those guys a special channel to advertise in, so if you report now it might actually help.
This week the 9.2.7 update introduces the new chat channel: Trade (Services). The Trade (Services) chat channel is used for searching and advertising services like raiding, dungeons, or PvP activities, keeping the original Trade chat channel available for traditional buying and selling of items and profession services.
With the separation of trade services into its own chat channel, a new policy will take place. Any boosting, carrying, or other similar services offered for gold that’s advertised outside of the Trade (Services) chat channel will be considered spam and the proper actions will be taken, so be sure to switch your service advertisements to the new chat channel when it becomes available after this week’s regional maintenance.
“Yes we have these rules that we can enforce but to avoid falsely flagging people who are innocent, we don’t use any automatic systems to flag people - as this can and will be abused, so instead we manually look into claims to make sure it is as fair to everyone and we can confirm whether someone falsely mass reports someone/something or if they care for the community and promote what they want to be allowed in the game by not reporting behavior they agree with”
… for fun, I kept most of the mail I have received whenever I get a notification about a reported case helping to identify people
I ended up with a mailbox full of it, like 2 pages or so, and those mails last for a full year
They started to time out because I had started to delete those messages so my mailbox would be functional again
Reporting people who break the ToS is the only way for us as players to influence what we are fine with seeing in the game, and what we aren’t fine with seeing in the game
Sorry but … the idea that it doesn’t do anything except somehow make it worse for yourself is a flat out lie … but it does explain why you may see people who are openly racist or bigoted around you, or selling stuff in your face, because at the end of the day, you don’t get rid of those who do it, so others sees it, and is emboldened by it, and thus’ start or continue but even more brazenly to do it
And stop with the bad faith nonsense, you know as well as I do that anyone who have the time and can afford to play WoW will have a phone
That is surprisingly not really true.
There are a lot of people who are disabled and on a fixed income who play. We often can’t get out for various reasons, but WoW serves as an inexpensive form of entertainment and engagement. Being able to add an authenticator is important, and you can’t do it anymore without having a proper cell number that the system sees as contract, not VOIP or pre-paid.
There are many other reasons someone might have limited phone access, but still have a few dollars a month to throw at WoW.
Life is complicated, and thinking people should have no access to simple entertainment due to financial limitations is just kind of mean.
To use an option previously available, we were coerced to putting an Authenticator on our phones. Which was heavily implied to significantly reduce wts spam in lfg. Obviously, their claim and the actual results seems different upon a glance.
wiggles toes
they will fix it they just add another thing to group finder were you are allowed to sell there like they did in game chat forget about actually getting rid of the problem.
yep just report anything that says WTS especially the ones that take you to an off wow website.
I kinda wonder how thats going for people selling stuff if its hurting or not. Sadly seems like its enabled so you have to disable it. They should make it opt-in instead of opt-out
Ignore Trade chat…
WTS means want to social interaction
Reporting does absolutely nothing other than hiding the offender from your own UI.
Please define “a lot” when referred to the amount of disabled people you have stated play this game. If you were to express it as a percentage, what is “a lot”? 20%? 30%? To me “a lot” should constitute a significant majority, so 30-40% at a minimum. So are you saying more than a third of WoW player base is disabled and does not have a phone? I’d love to see the data backing your claim as well.
I’m just going to say again, providing “soil” to facilitate sales, has encouraged this to explode. I remember that like a bit before discord banned EU wow boosting communities and to like midway through week 2 of season 4 there was almost no sale groups in the group finder. With 9.2.7 happening week 3, and patch announcement being sometime like on Thurs/Friday the week prior, all the nonsense is back.
A lot to me means more than I can easily carry in an armful. So a lot of paper towel rolls is probably around 6 or 7, whereas a lot of single serving chip bags is more like 18 or 20. A lot of people without phones would depend on the size of the people. Small people, maybe like 2-3 but a large people would be maybe 1 or 2 if we really squish in together.
That’s absurd. Obama phones are usable for authentication, and anyone on a fixed income would be able to obtain one for free. Most of them have unlimited phone, text, and data (with the Fed ACP program).
Hi. I am on a disability fixed income and don’t qualify for it or for the free or reduced price internet.
Please don’t assume that all people on fixed incomes qualify. The rules are complex and lives of individuals are complicated.
My point was to refute the person saying ALL people who can afford WoW can afford fancy phones and plans. There are people who fall into a strange middle gap.
Then your fixed income isn’t low enough and you SHOULD be able to afford a phone. Stop BSing people.
