Seriously’ there’s like 50 dead player bodies all over the outside of the inn in Goldshire. I miss something? an in game suicide pact? lol
Somebody finally decided that entire city must be purged.
Nah, this happens. lol
I saw that like 13 to 14 hours ago there lol.
Guess they thought the ground was hungry.
It’s funny when there’s like an arrow of bodies or something. xD
The Culling of Goldshire?
Yeah, an arrow or something.
Back in the day, in the Alpha, we didn’t have graveyards.
Instead you had binding stones. Those big stones we have to summon folks to dungeons and raids were the binding stones back then.
A binding stone is where you went when you died. So, it was routine when you went someplace and had a chunk of quests, you would just bind to the local stone Just in Case.
Well, those binding stones had no limit. You could be anywhere in the game, and you’d end up at the binding stone when you died.
So a routine thing folks were doing was setting their binding stones to Orgrimar, and then traveling to Thunder Bluff. When they were done there, they would “death port” back to Org.
The consequence of this was that the little pond in TB was filled with dead, rotting bodies. Folks would jump in there and drown themselves. Those that were less patient, just jumped off the edge and fell to their deaths.
At the time, the entire body was left behind when you died, and did not turn into a skeleton. In fact, one of the reasons we have skeletons now is because there were so many dead bodies in TB, with gear and high poly counts, they would cause framerate problems.
I tell ya, folk would talk about how creepy that secret area near Kharazan is. But it was nothing to the rotting pools of TB. And, to be honest, 9/11 was still pretty fresh, and seeing folks jumping to their deaths streak by as you rode the elevator up – kind of unsettling.
Okay…
- Lazy players will be lazy, consequences be damned.
- That is legitimately bizarre and creepy.
- … got any photographic/video proof? Quick Youtube search came up with nothing on it. While certainly plausible, it needs to be seen to be believed.
This seems to have happened on different servers so the killer must have access to the WoW source code.
Sometimes I feel like the game isn’t deleting dead bodies. I’ll come across piles of dead and not even skeleton just bodies scattered everywhere.
More common in classic though
Could have been a post raid event. PvP event
It’s not an event because it’s on multiple servers.
It’s not that the game isn’t deleting the dead bodies, what it means is that people log out before returning to their dead bodies, thus leaving them behind.
If you pvped a lot, it was a very common thing to see dead bodies on the ground. Sometimes it was either they were afraid to be camped (the killer stayed close to the dead body waiting for their victim) so they wait out the 5 min pvp flag or it was just a fit of rage so they just log off after being killed by another player.
