I hit apply and instead of applying the xmog it says to be xmog to whatever piece of gear and it doesn’t change anything. Why do I have weapons in the xmog menu that can’t be xmog’d? If I attempt to xmog a white weapon it won’t let me.
Can you be more specific about:
- The error you’re seeing, verbatim preferred
- What item you’re trying to transmog
- What you’re trying to transmog it to
- What class you’re playing on and what level, link to armory helps
I think some items may still have level or other requirements to be used.
A lot of mogs have level requirements.
I know I have encountered a snag where I try to mog a weapon into an artifact look but the weapon type the artifact weapon is just can’t be used on whatever I’m trying to use it on.
Check armor type. I once was having this issue with some bracers, and minutes later I realized I was using cloth bracers… on a hunter.
Transmog piece by piece. That usually fixes the problem.
I had this issue where an entire outfit wouldn’t mog and there was no good reason for it. So I mogged each piece one by one and all pieces worked.
Few mog rules:
You cannot mog to a different armor type.
You cannot mog a lower level item with a higher item appearance, you can mog a higher level piece with a lower level appearance though.
I can absolutely mog higher item appearances onto low ilevel pieces.
This has never been a rule. I just checked the original rules and all updates since.
yea i do it all the time with heirloom gear its the lvl requirements they needs to go
The breakpoints now are more open than they were before.
I can’t remember the reason behind that, though. There was one…
Without using heirlooms, if you have say, a level 45 sword, and you get a drop for a level 50 sword, you can’t mog the level 45 sword with the level 50 appearance.
yes you can i took a copper short sword and mog it with the anything i have unlocked
and this is an ilvl 4 white sword
Yes you absolutely can. I have no idea where you’re getting this from. It has never been a rule.
The only stipulation is the level range breakpoints and those don’t even allow you to try and mog a piece. Your collections panel will tell you “must be level 20” or “must be level 58” or whatever the breakpoints are now.
Breakpoints are expansion now
i can not mog anything from tww till i hit 70
Pretty sure there’s a couple of lower level ones. I was on Exile’s Reach and couldn’t mog most stuff. I’ve got a couple of lower level characters. I’ll check their breakpoints.
Weird. Maybe I’m wrong though when I was leveling my warrior, it wouldn’t let me transmog a piece with an appearance of a higher-level weapon I had in my bag.
just check my 10 paladin and i went to my collections anything from tww can not be used till i was 70 or higher
It really isn’t. This is how it’s always been.
If it shows up in the transmog window, you can absolutely transmog it. The item level has never been brought under consideration.
Right, because of Dragonflight being the new player experience, so they got rid of that mid breakpoint… that makes sense.
The lower levels have a level 10 breakpoint, iirc.
Apparently my lowbies are too high now. I thought I still had one on Exile’s Reach. So I can’t check. And I’m too lazy to make a new one. LOL
But I’m glad the mid-range breakpoint is gone!
i remember that legion artifact’s was lvl locked also same with wrath items being lvl 20-30
To be slightly more specific, there are two breakpoints tied to player level; level 10 and level 70.
The breakpoint at 70 is more or less “you must be the current expansion’s minimum level to use the appearances from it.”
The one at 10 is a bit arbitrary, the logic is probably “you’re out of the tutorial and picking an expansion to level in, therefore you can access appearances from them” but honestly, since the limit effectively only exists for like an hour on roughly half of the playable races, I don’t know why they bother with that one.
