Is it just me or is night time broken in Classic? Most zones just just get stuck at sunset even at like 10:00 PM realm time. It seems to vary by zone though, for example I was just in Shimmering Flats and it was actually dark and looked like how I remember night looking like in WoW.
Is the night time just super delayed for most zones or something?
Are you sure its realm time or your local time? The day and night cycle is a bit delayed, it doens’t really get too dark until like midnight. Whether your playing on a western US server or Eastern US server, along with where you actually live matters compared to your realm time. Western Servers are usually 3 hours behind Eastern Servers. You could live in eastern US and be playing on a server like whitemane and your local time would be 12:00AM, but the server time would only be 9:00PM, and it would still be daytime in the server.
Just noticed this myself this morning oddly. Was a moon symbol on the minimap in Westfall and it was clearly a nice bright day. Not familiar enough with Westfall to tell if that’s normal.
I think I’ve spotted my mistake. Day-night cycle is real time, so I was experiencing 6 am.
You were probably using a CRT monitor back in the day. If you look at old screenshots from Vanilla, most zones were never very dark at night.
