Everything in here hits like a truck compared to the other dungeons. Definitely overtuned.
It’s a tough one, but I wouldn’t say it’s too far out of tune, could maybe pull it in a little. As a mage I die from almost any missed mechanic in very dungeon. More stamina from upgraded gear should help though.
hoi so far strikes me as average tuning-wise
The damage from bosses feels fine, but the second set of puddles from on the first boss spread MUCH faster than the first set of puddles… like if you’re not using a speed-boost when they drop, you’re probably dead and that kind of insta-death doesn’t seem to exist in the other dungeons that I’ve noticed.
What level key and which mechanics seem to be the problem?
I got the puddle mechanic three times in a row, so I had a few seconds left on DA cooldown, so I just got nuked through AMS and IBF. Tragic.
+8. First boss puddles were a nightmare and third boss pulsibg damage chunked. I was okay because I play DK, but squishies were getting thrown through the ringer.
iirc how it works is that the orbs buff the boss (damage and puddle size) so if you nuke them the phase after intermission is easier
last boss is similar, you might be tempted to just let the adds channel but they buff the boss
Some of the bosses in Neltharus (Chargath) and Uldaman (Bromach) are heavy hitters too. I feel Chargath, even post-nerf, is probably the hardest M+ boss in the lower key ranges.
I suspect the last boss of HoI is going to gatekeeper certain classes as it is almost a one shot on 11/12. Probably can go higher with a little more gear but at 17/18 there are going to start being classes that just can’t live that attack.
17/18? Like…if you’re the type of person who wants to push keys close to what would have been 30s in the previous seasons, you’re probably already playing the FotM specs/classes anyway.
Other than not always being on a class that can cleanse poison for the frog area, I always thought that HoI was a pretty good dungeon from a healer perspective. The ice boss is pretty fun…feels good to do that fight well.
The reason they are meta is because of things like this. The reason Hunter is not meta is because of how squishy they are. The reason Brewmaster was not meta in s2 (possibly last season as well but all the ones I knew rerolled) was because of damage taken.
The meta is not just the highest DPS classes. It is the classes best suited to the dungeon mechanics. For this season that means range classes with high survival (also possibly ret for other reasons).
just ran a +8 fort in halls and we had more trouble with the bosses than the trash. constant damage on 3rd boss seems impossible to heal through and first hit from 4th boss chunks all of health to 1/4th and were all around 505-510
The front trash to first boss can be rough on fort, but IIRC it’s all avoidable or stoppable, the snake guys do a sneaky frontal or shared strike with anyone in melee, something like that. As much as I backpedal tank them away from people being extra with their sporadic positioning, gets 'em every time.
The 3rd boss is just a pure healer check…assuming the dps aren’t getting hit by the easiest mechanics in the world to avoid. Last boss doesn’t really matter how hard that groupwide damage hits so long as you can survive. Since you’re not in danger of getting hit by anything else for a while after it.
Be thankful, in S1 the puddle was 100% the instant it dropped, they changed it to how it is now.
Mate any dungeon at 17/18 is going to be impossible for 99.9% of players in this game. A current M18 is last seasons M28, and last season we had exactly 140,125 completed M28+ dungeons total. That’s not individual players, that’s total dungeons. There were a total of 34,421,970 dungeons completed, so we had a total of 0.4% of all completed keys at M28+.
Let’s be real, keys in the current 2-5 range will be the limit for like half the people in this game.
Skill issue.
And yes, you can check my history to see I’ve done this key on a +8, we had 3.5 minutes spare.
Really? HOI feels good, the dungo I really hate is Uldaman. Even with a clean run and big pulls can’t seem to beat the timer many times. It’s very annoying.
