What's up with Crafting Orders?

I just put up gold/rank 3 quality mats for a neck and a illimited gem as a Crafting Order, and they came back bronze and silver quality.
Why am I not getting gold/rank 3 quality products out of my gold/rank 3 mats that cost gold/rank 3 currency in AH?

Because you have no control over who accepts your public crafting order and the items they make are based on their skill/equipment.

Gota get personal orders for that

Better to DIY or negotiate with a skilled craftsman in your city if you need a particular quality.

Quality of mats in =/= quality of item out. That depends on the crafter, if you want a guaranteed quality or item level etc it’s better to do a private order.

public orders are kind of like the fast food of crafting. you might get something good but for the most part you’re probably going to get some greasy slop prepared by either a teenager who doesn’t know better, or a 35 yr old who has been in the biz too long and purposefully makes things horribly to spread misery.

Public orders are basically a “here’s the order, make whatever you can” venue.

In regards to gems: You will not be getting any guaranteed R3 gems back unless the crafter uses an Illustrious Insight. Those can get expensive.

As the others said, if you’re after a particular rank, it’s best to seek a crafter through Trade chat.

And even with a private order, if RNG isn’t on their side, you can still come out of it with a below-top-quality item.

Isn’t that FUN?

It depends on the mats, crafter skill, and the item itself. 424s are painless. It starts to get iffy depending on the item once you get to the 437 tier, and almost nothing (except for staves) can be guaranteed at 447.

You’ll usually want to make sure the details are communicated with you before starting your order. Some crafters like myself will stick it out until the dice rolling is over (I’ll usually ask buyers to keep sending 1 silver recrafts using rank 2 mats until either rank 5 procs or they give up). I do know there’s others who will only give it a few tries and then tell their clients to find someone else, which I find disappointing.

If it’s something that you require a high quality for (pretty much for PvE gear/primalist gems) you wanna do personal orders for.

Stuff you don’t need quality for (PvP gear/Enchanted crests) are where you’re better off setting up the public orders.

Some people will take the gold and not spend / not know to spend the illustrious insight to get a rank 3.

If your getting rank 1’s back, they’re probably just leveling. The diamonds aren’t overly expensive these days though.

No idea what the devs thought would happen or why they don’t allow minimum quality on public orders. Some sort of happy rainbow place where everyone goes around throwing expensive matts away so they can help level strangers I guess.

I believe they’ve stated their philosophy behind keeping minimum ranks behind personal orders is that they want to encourage more social interactions.

To be frank, that does happen with the minimum qualities on personal orders. I usually end up having to interact more to tell the buyer that they need to re-send their 447 craft without that R5 requirement so I can roll the order  I reached the point several months ago where I tell buyers in advance to not set a minimum rank requirement because it gets in the way more than it helps with anything.

How is a system where I spend extra gold on rank 3 mats only to get a subpar rank 1 product a system at all? Y’all are OK with this?

I subbed this week, I don’t know anyone to privately send a crafting order too, and I shouldn’t have to, I should get what I paid and tipped for. Period. It’s a video game.

I don’t think everyone is saying they’re OK with it. What we’re saying is “this is how it works currently.”

Your best bet is to ask in Trade chat for a crafter. You can also ask others who a trusted crafter may be.

You did. This is how public orders currently work.

Correct! Don’t let this one incident sour you too much. In the future, ask in Trade chat for a craft on whichever item you want to have made. Above all else, have fun!

This. Ask in trade. You might get lucky and find someone like me who won’t say “it’s free.” And then say “i mean i charge 30k but you don’t have to tip”. I get so sick of that false advertising bullcrap. If you need something at max quality and I can do it all I want is your mats. I don’t have any hidden fees. Whatever you put in the commission is what I get.

Is that the going rate on your realm for crafts? That is stupendously high.

I exaggerated but i was told 20k once. I said lol and slash ignore

I think everyone is OK with it since there is so much cope in this thread and nobody is talking about this insanity on reddit, or anywhere I’ve googled.
I’ve asked in Trade chat for 2 days, zero responses. I shouldn’t have to- I should get what I paid for and ordered and tipped for in the crafting orders. I put up everything for Rank 3, not bronze rank 1. I DID NOT get what I paid and tipped for. You are COPING cuz you’re addicted to this game.

I’ve been in trade chat 2 days before I googled. No responses. Zero responses. Med-high pop server as far as I’m aware.
