If I use an item that says max 10 yard range… and cast it within 10 yards, what’s the number that it would fail to cast at? Because i think sometimes I cast and they move out of range but it still is successful
My guess is it uses the same ranges as leeway.
Not sure on this, but I have noticed when I open with a pyroblast (long cast time), if the mob moves out of range it seems the pyroblast is successful if the mob was in range for more than 50% of my cast time.
At least that’s the way it seems, but it could be also based on how far the mob has moved out of range as well.
I don’t have any evidence for this, just my personal observation of mobs walking away from me, but if they are in range when you start your cast, the cast will complete and you will hit your target about 75% of the time.
My thought has been like around 25% of the initial range.
So if you start casting as a max of 40 yards, you can cast and not fail until 50 yards.
Again…just athought…never measured / timed it.
I do this on purpose at times. Wait to cast when the mob is pathing AWAY at max range. Sometimes they pat too far and fail, but most of the time it goes off with extra distance.
It’s not much, I don’t think there’s any concrete research on it. If I had to guess I’d say as little as 2-5 yards of leeway for if you get the cast off and the target wanders outside of it.
Sincerely doubt it’s percentage based on ability used. In your example 10 yards is a lot of leeway and I’ve never experienced that much forgiveness.
