Whats the point of the services tab if LFG is still awash with ads?

Whats the point of adding the services tab if you’re not going to do something about the ads in the LFG tool? 90% of the groups listed when I took this screenshot were ads for carry websites when I thought the entire point of the services tab was to give them a place they could advertise without it being in peoples way? Blizz come on. Do something about this.

Tracking it all down to take action would take resources and the end result would just be losing more money when they ban/suspend people for it.

So it’s not going to happen. They give us the option to report it which ultimately does nothing but temporarily remove it from our lists. That’s as good as it’s going to get. They don’t want to action these people any more than they want to action bots.

How about a “Trade Services We’re Super Serious This Time” channel?

They shouldve made the trade services tab name “services” and left trade, then swap them. With both of them starting with trade, it kinda defeats the difference cause many people dont read the whole phrase

Idk i feel like it’s not that hard of a problem to solve tbh.

For starters how about fixing the bugged report for it so you don’t have to do it twice for the actual report to go through.

But seriously, it’s a conflict of interest to deal with them at this point lol. The bot issue will never be solved but the advertising issue probably won’t either, but not because it can’t.

Premade Groups Filter pushes all the ads to the bottom of the listings.

The fact there is a “services” tab in a monthly sub, premium MMO is disgusting.
The fact it shoves all new characters/players into that chat channel by default is sickening.

There shouldn’t be “Services” in your MMO, especially not an officially supported one.

The services tab was added because of people advertising carry services for gold in the trade chat. Not because of the LFG-finder being full of these types of advertisers.

So… the point of the services channel (or tab as you put it) was to address the issues with trade chat, not LFG. The thing happening in the LFG isn’t allowed and the unfortunate reality is that it will effectively always have people doing this in there. Unless it got reworked and, effectively, removed for something far more standardized and locked down in terms of what you can do with it.

Which… would be a net negative for all players, meaning that it is unlikely that Blizzard would make any change to aggressively combat LFG-advertisers (at least in a way that would still comport to providing players the freedom of using the LFG-tool).

… you do understand that the “services” in question is literally just players being able to trade gold between each other, you do understand that right?

Said services is literally “You give me gold and I carry you through a raid!”
Relegating it to a specific services-tab means that people who don’t want to take part in that can just leave the channel. But nothing about “You give me gold and I invite you to my Mythic guild’s run through a raid” is inherently bad at all.

The only reason for the service tab to become a thing is because it was getting a bit too much with so many people offering it in the trade chat. Making it difficult to use it for trading purposes.

Before logging into a new character. Copy the chat-cache.wtf file from the character folder you have chat configured how you like into the folder of the new character. Do this with wow closed.

Yeah but like, what if I’m really desperate for something to be sickened and disgusted over so I can pretend I have a moral superiority over everyone else?

Hm… at that point you could always be upset about birds, and start talking about them being surveillance drones? Conspiracy theories aren’t a great thing overall in my opinion, but if one want to pretend for a few hours to have a superior morality or knowledge of something - pretending to be a conspiracy theorist isn’t a terrible idea.

Just as long as one doesn’t let the time period extend beyond a few hours if even that. At that point it is time to visit the doctor, but if it is just for a few minutes to a few hours - it is all in good fun!

What’s crazier is if you start reporting the pay sites (for $) and report “too many,” Blizzard stops you… even though it is against ToS, which leads me to think they are not earnest in their lawful agreement with the players

Blizzard straight up does not care. More people buying carries=more token sales=more money for ActiBlizzSoft.

It’s 100% against ToS and 100% a reportable action that should be an instaban, but I see the exact same names for days on end listing their stupid websites in LFG and spamming /1 or /2 instead of /5 where they’re supposed to go. This is in spite of knowing for a fact they’ve been reported multiple times by multiple people.

Some will claim it’s a money/resources issue, but ffs they could pay me $3 an hour to ban these accounts and I’d happily kill off 500 accounts a day. It’s not rocket surgery to recognize an illegitimate listing or chat post and nuke the account.

It wouldn’t get rid of the problem entirely, but it would put it back at a non-invasive level.

Edit: What’s even more annoying is that these stupid sites are now starting to also openly advertise on sites like Reddit, including for services that are blatantly against game ToS.

How does that work when a lot of the services are for credit card use and bypass the tokens?

I can tell that most of the people in this thread did not pay attention to how much worse it was during SL when the channel wasn’t implemented yet.

How do you not understand that this makes it a money/resource issue?

You being happy to cost them the price of 500 subs and a multitude of token sales daily would make it a massive financial loss for them even if you did it for free.

Which is why they aren’t going to do anything about it other than let us remove the ads from our LFG list.

That’s because the president of Blizzard was a booster who forced them to create an expac designed for boosters.

Every expansion since the introduction of the token has been designed for bots and boosters. So Legion through now.

Not really, SL was blatant about it.
PvP was literally changed early on to be benefit being a “reaccuring weekly customer”.

Non-issue, they pay for game time with gold / tokens, and you already know this.

It’s why Blizz put restrictions on Classic chars that hadn’t paid for a single day of game time since before 2017.

And no, people won’t stop buying the tokens.
