What's the point of "loot specialization?"

Is “loot specialization” feature of dungeon and weekly vault rewards out of whack and will be fixed at a later date, or is the seemingly random secondary stats a feature of TWW as time sinks? If it’s a time sink, then why even have “loot specializations?”

Loot specializations are so you can get specific types of gear usable by your desired spec. It has no bearing on the secondary stats you get, which are always, and have pretty much always, been random.

loot spec is so you get dps trinkets instead of healer ones, things that are usable by your spec not just things that are bis for your spec.

That worked when you could go to NPCs and change secondary stats, but have you seen them in TWW?

Your best secondary stats change as you you get more of them on your gear, they aren’t set by your spec.

When you play fury warrior, Blizzard REALLY wants you to do Single Minded Fury, so you have to specialize in Arms Warrior loot to get two handed weapons.

Theorycrafting and stat priority is something us players do, not Blizzard. They put stats randomly on gear.

Although I’m convinced some dev has an obsession with Versatility and hates Haste.

It’s slowly becoming obsolete as gear is homogenized more and more

Because my Guardian, Feral, Boomkin, and Resto all have different stat priorities. Can’t be getting Healer’s gear when I need to soak damage and output heavy. It exists for a reason, and that should be more obvious.

for example prot warrior can give you shields but arms warrior drops 2-handers

The bigger thing is different weapons/trinkets for every spec.

You don’t want to be getting healer trinkets on your boomkin, tank trinkets as a feral, caster weapons as bear, etc.

this is the thing that annoys me the most when playing fury, like just let me have an option to only get two hander drops for the love of

To make sure Fury Warriors don’t get scuffed with the loot table :joy:

And yet Holy Pally and Ele Shaman are getting screwed, because Blizz can’t implement abilities correctly…

THIS! 1000%! People wondered why in TBC they had the right gearscore but still suffered. When you would examine their gear, you could see not only were they not the right stats, in some cases were not even the right gear. I remember a Paladin in cloth and leather tanking Deadmines at lvl 16 cause he needed gear, but this was all he had from questing. Allowing the system to guide gear choices encourages success.

You have it. Spec for arms loot.

I use it to get dps gear while healing, and vice versa.

Secondary stats was never a part of Loot specialization

It’s still working and is mainly for weapons (if you have specializations that use different primary statistics like Druids or use different types of weapons between specializations like Rogues) and trinkets.

then whats the point of having the spec option for fury? just give fury the option to choose two hander or one hander drops instead of always have to swap to arms

a minor inconvenience is still an inconvenience. so get rid of it.

weapon types still exist and are spec recstriced (shields , 1h vs2h ,and ofc trinkets)

plus is nice going as healer and still able to loot caster
