What's the point of chain armor?

If a Shaman’s gonna get one-hit by magic abilities from some classes and just one-shot by rogues in a single GCD anyway?

Asking for a friend. Just because armor doesn’t seem to matter, like, at all. Nor a shield. If you’re not a tank class.

It’s just thematic. Armor hasn’t mattered in a long time.

Shamans really need to get a passive that decreases magical damage taken by 15% and increases armor by 30%

Bit excessive, but they need something.

The stuff I’m wearing looks like plate… but I assure you, it’s thin styrofoam to a rogue.

I do miss armour being meaningful but pvp needed to be balanced, I suppose

Tell your friend that he would combust instantly if it wasn’t for the chain armor. I also very much doubt that he got 1 shot by one single magic ability. Tell him I am calling him out on it. thx

Is this a lowkey ‘let x class wear x armor’ thread?

Rogues would like to hug you, Ms. Priest.

I mean, at this point, armor pretty much means nothing. Might as well let us go into battle with two post-it notes and a sugar packet at this point.

They tossed out traditional D&D character sheet sensibilities a long time ago. So trade offs like mitigation encumbrance and speed no longer exist.

Plate wearers outmaneuvering clothies is the new norm.

Armor stopped mattering at all after Wrath of the Lich King. The damage reduction you get from it post-Wrath is negligible at best unless you’re a Tank, and even then, it’s mostly just defensive stats that non-Tanks don’t have access to that’s keeping them alive and not actually damage reduction.

Oh My!! it likely goes all the way back to the beginning of the game…shamans wearing chain and a shield using frost shock were beginning to tank and at the time blizzard only really wanted warriors to tank and so they nerfed shamans. However[sips a little wine] shamans never get buffs…likely due to a blizzard teams member cheating spouse, crazy ex girlfriend or boyfriend played one
