I’m returning and trying to get geared again. I have full level 1 honor set now on my pally, but when I upgrade the gear – the ilvl it scales to remains the same. Which means, there’s not a lot of point to upgrading it for PVP, no?
Does this mean then that the only way I can get better pvp gear is through rated arenas? I still feel super under geared and just think I’m gunna get rolled in rated pvp.
You don’t have to do rated to get conquest gear. It just speeds up the process.
You are at a disadvantage in blues yes. But if you play the best you can you wont be punished as harshly. Also really depends on your teammates.
Get blues. Do your weekly quest to get sparks. Conq equiv gear can be crafted now youll get 2 trophies for it from the quest from a box.
Hop in some 2s and gear up. Easy to get a group goin if you start your own. Even easier if your a healer. Or just que shuffle but you may get focused the whole time being in blues.
I’ve always enjoyed BGs 
2 crafted pieces might help while you grind out the conquest.

you only upgrade it for pve wqs etc if u dont plan on grinding pve set , its to help u be stronger so u can farm those wqs / do quests and farm rares etc . the base will always be 437 for normal and 450 for conquest. those r the max . The main thing you want to do is do rated for tmogs if u like those or use the catalyst to try and get set pieces .
you really dont gotta worry about upgrading higher ilvl into bgs anymore like it was in SL . thats what i like about df is its alot easier . Might want to look into crafting 2 precog pieces aswell .

Spams mechanostrider noises incessantly before the gates open.
You get 110 conquest from your first daily epic bg win and 70 from your first daily random bg win. You can just win a few matches a week to get the 550 cap, though arena, solo shuffle, and rated battlegrounds will give you faster conquest at the expense of long queues or needing to find a group.

I do em for fun. Ppl cry about full conq toons in randoms (players who are not geared up like me) but until blizz have solo queue rateds I’ll be crushing noobs in randoms. Being geared to the max doesn’t mean an insta win though. Usually the other team is just as geared or even more so.
In the same way you don’t have to have a car to travel 300 miles. It speeds up the process, but you can also do it on foot.
