Well first, let me give you a little backstory to kick things off.
So I’m new to WoW (no surprise there). I decided to give it a try due to all my friends hyping up “WoW Classic” and its release date. Now, I think I’ve progressed quite a bit for someone who knew next to nothing about WoW. Many hours invested into guides, tutorials and had past experiences with mmos made me catch on quick and–well–get hooked.
Now I’m normally patient, actually, I’m really patient. The countless hours spent walking to different areas, trying to figure out quests, fighting other full parties for mobs to complete quests that need drops, being camped by the opposing faction when you’re trying to complete a quest that you’ve been stuck doing for hours and plenty of other tedious things. None of that bothered me; Okay, well maybe some did, just a little.
Now, those things don’t even compare to the amount of salt gushing from pores after this happened. I’m a Warrior, a level 34 arms at the time to be exact. Noobie me decides to look up some weapons to replace my outdated one from DM. After about an hour or so taking a break and browsing through the data base while getting hyped–I found one, the whirlwind axe. I set my eyes on it and that alone.
Now I did some more research, and it became even more perfect and made me desire it even more. Now, I looked up how to obtain it and it seemed tedious as hell to get–they weren’t wrong. I spent a good 3-4 hours of farming the charms in a duo with the gf who is a 34 priest (she’s the real mvp here). Killing them was brutal, especially with horde killing us every 10 minutes or so, but I eventually did it, I was getting pretty excited to get this new weapon.
The next thing I required was those blood tusks. It wasn’t that hard itself, but the countless overwhelming presence of horde on my server in Stranglehorn Vale made it very tedious. The process went something a little like this: Get 3-5 blood tusk, die, resurrect, rinse and repeat.
Finally I managed to get all of the drops for my beautiful new weapon I was looking forward to for days. I log on today and get my friend and gf in a party (yay weekend time!) to help me finish the quest “Cyclonian”… But then it hit us, We was hit with countless dc’s and “server is down” for hours (we all know why). Despite that, nothing was going to stop me from finally getting this beauty. My party and I slowly try to creep our way up to hand in my quest; After about an hour or so we finally made it through the countless dcs and server crashes… I. Was. Finally. Here.
Super Impatient, yet managing to hold in my excitement, I decided it would be best to wait for the servers to calm down. I waited a few hours to where they seemed more stable.
Finally, the time has come to get my whirlwind axe! I have a party to help kill the summon, check. I have nature potions, strength, agility, stamina, check. I. Am. Ready. I am so happy to see Bath’rah the Windwatcher with a completed dot on the map just over him. I approach him and right click him so I can complete the quest and proceed to the next step which is the summon and… nothing. Nothing at all. Now you can only imagine what’s going through my mind at this point, I’m real close to snapping.
I start racing through my mind trying to figure out an explanation or see if I’m missing anything… well, I’m not. After impatiently re-evaluating the quest online and double checking my inventory nothing comes to mind… except that ddos attack. Yeah! That must be it (I convince myself) the dialog must be slow or bugged, let me just abandon it and accept it again, that’ll get it working!
Yeah… no. Don’t do that. If you’re a veteran or even someone with common sense, you’ll know it deletes your quest items… if you abandon the quest related to the items. I had to find out the hard way. I still have no whirlwind axe and all happiness died today. I am here now sharing my story on the forum while I wait for a GM to reply to my ticket. Knowing my luck, they wont recover anything.
So yeah, that’s it. Lets hear your story, I apologize at the length of this. Happy leveling all.
Edit: Oh I forgot to mention, yes I’m aware they have a recover option but it’s limit to 1 item per 15 days and well I used it already for a quest item I deleted by mistake as it shared the same icon as a garbage band-aid.
