Whats the future of HC servers

Do HC servers stay in classic only or do you guys get the follow up expansions

Hc is most meanful with vanilla. Because player power incresses a lot in tbc and onward due to the abilities and talents being better and other changes.

It will be easier to get to 1-70 in tbc hardcore than it is to get to 1-60 in vanilla.

Very true! Classes were given extra self-healing, damage mitigation, and extra CC abilities that would at minimum trivialize Azeroth content.

When the OG vanilla folks say post-vanilla is easy, they refer to the solo leveling. XP is slower, item upgrades are scarce, income is less. You can never truly grow impervious just soloing.

Outland content on the other hand, it can definitely be challenging. And I could see an HC server starting you at 60 and just trying to run the Outland content only, barring access to Azeroth until you hit 70 to prevent cheesing XP with trivialized grinding. The downside to Outlands and literally every expansion is that there are only ~5 zones, so there’s not a lot of room to breath in a crowded server.

it’s only in vanilla classic, yes :expressionless: there are no plans to do HC expansions, as splitting the HC player base like that probably isn’t a good idea. plus, TBC and wrath are probably even less conducive to HC for a variety of reasons.

I’ve heard/seen no news or discussion about HC from official sources.

I would make an educated guess that player base, community, and any viral content would potentially influence that.

The ‘hint’ about Classic+ dropped in interviews a month or so ago would be really interesting if any of it gets applied to HC as well though; possibly there is more to the story than just static servers.

But for now - I know of no new information.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I hope you all enjoy the HC life but i sont think its for me. Agian have a great time

My favorite eras are 1 WOTLK 2. TBC … 6. Classic. I much i i would like to play in the my two favorite expansions i know the HC playerbase is too small to split up like that. If they do it they should not trivialize it by starting players at level 60

What do you guys think about a Naxx clear granting a free life? Its sort of a big deal i think in hardcore clearing naxx. I think thats a pretty good reward.

No, it’s already bad enough people have petri flasks, the point of HC is for people to die, the moment people stop dying it kills the point of HC.

Hardcore should stay vanilla but they should do some tweaks. Starting with removal of all life saving items.

Or everyone get an item/spell at spawn thats a 1 time get out of jail free card.

That a horrible idea
Where do you people got your terrible ideas from?
Whats the point of hardcore if you are getting free lives?
Are you trying to kill off hardcore?

I would love to play hardcore with more races and areas. Races like Worgen, draenei, blood elves and so on… it would be awesome to roam through northrend and outlands in hardcore mode, but it would definitely need some balancing from blizzard to make the game interesting and challenging

It would depend on what you do, i would think. Open world classic has the edge. While ICC has might wipe out the majority of raiders (if there are any).

If they could implament more expansions instead of making dozens of HC servers, release a new expansion ever so often on the hc servers

The player base is too small. Been trying to find a scholo/strat UD group for 3 days on skull rock horde. We don’t need any more splitting of the player base.
