whats the difference between anniversary realms, classic era and SoD?
One is chocolate, one is strawberry, and one is vanilla.
well i dont like any of those flavors so i guess classic isnt for me
Retail is pineapple flavor.
Era has no new content. It is all released. They’re the original servers from five years ago, I believe.
SoD is some weirdo version of Classic with a boatload of changes.
Anniversary is an attempt at fresh vanilla servers but with some (in my opinion) smart and non-invasive changes.
What the guy above said plus,
Era has connected realms, so you will see players from other realms just like on retail. The Ah´s are seperated and at many realms non functional due the lack of players.
On my original Era realm, two people were online yesterday evening.
SOD was an attempt to bring Classic +, an altered version of classic. I only played it the first two phases, I did not mind it, but the community was kind of “elitist” and the content rushed, so I did not keep up with people. Phase six has just launched, with the opening of AQ gates I believe?
Anniversary is a fresh Era, but with changes like Dual spec (not yet added), instant mail between your own chars, a LFG interface, that is not yet unlocked for me? At those realms layering is active, so it can be a bit tricky playing with friends.
It may be advisable to start on Fresh, as these realms will also transition into TBC and most likely Wrath.
Era is #nochanges vanilla and the realms have been here since classic launch.
SoD is vanilla with a lot of sandbox changes.
Anniversary is fresh vanilla realms with some minor improvements.
anniversary will progress to tbc, sod is vanilla with some added stuff which is mostly fun, and vanilla is vanilla.
Where after tbc? Have they said anything?
