What's the deal with W or L

I noticed a lot this “language”. W means Win, L lose/loss. Okay.

Why not just type Win or Lose? Am I gettind old? Is this how the new generation communicates? Who invented this. Thank you for your enlightment

Dont be a L-r get with the hip new lingo and be a W-ner

And waste time typing out those extra two letters? That’s not a W.

Yeah it’s a W to type W but L to type Win or Lose. Don’t L, only W.

I still don’t understand why everyone references the ancient Mesopotamian city of UR in what seems to me irrelevant strings of words.
