What's the Deal with Ivus Loot?

For the life of me, I can’t figure out Ivus the Decayed.

Cursor over his icon on the map, and all I ever see is the 750 azerite power reward. He’s supposed to drop gear, right? I know not all the time, but I have yet to see, in the previous cycles, any Ivus gear reward show up. Yet I read on the forums how other players are getting gear from him.

Also, premade Raid groups are nonexistent or too small, so I join a much larger Questing group to fight him. I get the 750 AP as advertised, but I also see other players getting Ivus gear.

Is there some “pre-quest” I have to do to open Ivus’ loot for me? What am I missing?

I can be very tenacious … IF I know I’m on the right track and it is just a matter of RNG. I was just wondering if there is some other variable of which I am unaware.

Doesn’t he only drop gear only when he is a world boss for the week thingy?

You are seeing the WQ. It will be either 750 AP, ~350 gold or 250 war resources.

The loot drop for being a world boss is on top of this. You will usually just see a small amount of gold quietly drop for you. A group of 40 will typically see about 5 items drop so your odds look somewhere in the 10-20% range. Another few items will drop as many people use a bonus rolls.

IDK. I just figured it worked like Doom’s Howl. Never had a problem with that.

So I need to kill Ivus through a Raid group? Given how rare those are, I may have to start my own (and only Elune knows how well – or not – that may work out).

click the little green eyeball which pops up next to the quest in your log when you enter the area.
i’ve never not seen at least one active group.

Yes. So Ivus is different? I wish WoW-related info sites were more, well, informative.

That’s the first thing I do. And because I could hardly find a premade Raid group, someone suggested I try a Questing group.

no, you do not need to be in a raid group.

It’s just that if you click on the dot beside the WQ (that gets temporarily added to the bottom of your quest list on right side of the screen when you’re close), it will pull up the group finder and there is almost always a raid group in the process of forming.

I will try that next month when Ivus returns, thanks.

EDIT: tried that with Doom’s Howl. Seems to work much better than clicking on the eye in the action bar.

Ivus works the exact same as Dooms Howl. You have just had bad luck with RNG. That’s all.

You don’t HAVE to be in a raid group; Today, again, I just moved towards him and people were already fighting him. I got a loot drop still.

Most of my gear from him has been from Bonus Roll. I’m lucky with those, so I always have seals for Ivus, Doom’s howl, etc.

I’ve got his boots (today on the bonus roll, was an upgrade 400 :wink: ) , head piece, trinket I think? It seems like every time it is the new cycle for darkshore, I get a loot drop from Ivus.

I’ve don’e the premade/custom group( Or yeah, click on the raid thing if a WQ), then sometimes I’ve just been lucky and flown near him while people are fighting him already.

He drops 400… I got it once .

As far as I’m aware his loot table is separate from the world quest to kill like other world bosses.

You’ve just had a case of very bad luck. Also doesn’t help he is killable once every two weeks more or less.

I think the warfronts cycle through in 3 to 3 1/2 wks. And fer shurr, that doesn’t help. But it is what it is.

You are correct. You can see his loot table through the in game adventure guide or 3rd party websites.
