I’m leveling my Survival hunter and I’ve hit that point in leveling where everything starts to hit like a truck. I heal my pet a lot more than I used to. I’m using Fenryr right now, but was curious if there’s a better pet or pet family?
Kind of makes me sad, though. I miss being able to swap specs on any pet.

Scalehides, best tank pets by a mile.
LOL figures. My least favorite looking pets. 
Scalehides are technically the best non-exotic for having a pet tank in the open world, but Gorillas, Cats, Coursers, Wind Serpents are also fine.
Gorilla’s defensive isn’t controlled, and the final 3 all have “increase dodge chance by 30%” as their ability, which can be a little sketchy in RNG doesn’t like you.
Personally, I use Wind Serpents as my world-tank most of the time for aesthetic reasons (Wind Serpents are class alongside Trolls), and I’ve very rarely suffered for it.
They need to let us choose for any pet we have to be whatever spec we need. I hate having to use a pet I don’t like to get the benefit from it instead of whatever pet I want. It causes a huge disconnect between me and my pet, which goes against the hunter identity entirely.
Wait until next expac when they are just removing pets and giving hunters one stock pet based on their character race like bear for dwarf etc. Rest all being removed along with taming.
