Just coming back to shadowlands very very Recently actually still leveling up and a friend of mine wants to jump into PVP and I know the stat that you want to go For his versatility however I’m imagining there’s a break point at least beginning gearing I know item level is important but the stat you want to go to by default is generally versatility and something else.
From what I’ve read and seen so I was wondering what’s the default Percentage you want to be at Walking into battlegrounds ?
I have looked on guides but most of those are at the very end game where it says 30% and up But that’s for arena so I’d imagine is there a lower Amount you go for walking to battlegrounds or is it relative or does it have diminishing returns just wondering?

Uh 32% is about where most people are with 4set, give or take a bit
Some crazies run 20% to maximize other stats and make their healers cry, and theres 41% vers people running around, but 30%+ is generally solid for all pvp content
Theres a DR after 30 but its not super significant. Imo pick the tier pieces with vers and fill in the 5th slot with a conquest piece
I mean I mean for a fresh 60 like I’m talking fresh as in hasn’t even completed their covenant campaign completely fresh.
So you even want 32% versatility even walking into battle grounds ?
You can do bgs with negative gear but spend your honor as you get it on upgrades. You’ll notice a difference once you get above 20 vers
And yeah full honor/conquest gear is great and every piece has vers on it
You’ll earn conquest from bgs
You mean honor level right ? Again I’m literally just coming back to the game I’ve been following the videos and the changes with shadow lands but from what I saw I didn’t miss too much.
I’ll be on at 7 playing tbc most of the time But a friend of mine wants to do pvp in Shadowland so I’m kind of jumping back into it so I just want to know just walking into battle grounds how much Versatility do I ideally want to have or just a benchmark to shoot for.
Because from what I’ve seen it’s pretty easy to get your hands on 233 gear 33 gear at level 60 I’m ingranted gas random what your old get your hands on in the auction house but still.
Sorry i’m tispy lets start over
-get full crafted 233 gear from AH
-buy 226 weapon for 500 anima in ZM
-make a legendary by running thorgast (235 is fine)
-grab the pvp weekly quests from Oribos pvp vendors
-buy the 60 renown/200 conduits from the vendor in oribos next to flight master if its unlocked
-queue bgs until you have honor, buy trinkets first for the 2 set increased stamina
-replace your gear until you have a full 1/7 honor set, then keep gaining honor until you’re 7/7 (285 ilvl)
You’ll get destroyed initially and thats how blizzard intends your experience to be, but with every honor piece upgrade itll feel less bad
You can queue for solo shuffle as well which raises your ilvl to 278 while inside solo shuffle

There’s no specific breakpoint.
in PvP gear you’ll have 25-35% when fully geared.
How much you want depends on spec, comp, playstyle, etc.
Item level is more important. 15 or 30% vers means next to nothing if you’re 235.

OK thank you So is there just not a number I want to go for versatility then? Is it just item level then and I go for the PVP gear and it’s just going to have what I need ?
Yeah like said above worry about ilvl first, eventually you’ll be in full pvp gear and all pvp gear comes with vers so you’ll have 30%~ vers just from having pvp gear on
Honor/conquest gear scales higher in pvp than non honor gear so like honor gear is better inside pvp than like world quest gear

OK thank you because I was reading guides and it was saying you want about 30% versatility and about 28% mastery I am saying this for a retribution paladin to be fair but that’s what it said And you want about 18% haste and I think 16% cret if I recall right.
But I try kind of getting to that point it’s like Well I got to about 40% mastery in 24% versatility so That’s kind of close but then again I didn’t know if that man is that arena or is that.
What I want just stepping in the PVP I literally wasn’t sure But thank you so item level is king still OK.
Yeah. You’ll want some vers, but at the end of the day positioning, ability usage, and item level will kind of trump having another few percent defensive vers. We’re in a bit of a knife fight meta if that makes sense.
Like, passive play generally results in falling behind or death. You don’t become ambiently tanky or anything. It’s like a twink bracket where everybody hits each other really hard.
Best of luck with gearing. You unfortunately come at a time when they’re right about to uncap conquest so Tuesday is due to be a bloodbath.

Yeah I saw that so conquest isn’t going to have a cap anymore but isn’t that good for people that want to catch up or is it just gonna be one of those where everybody’s going to grind out all the conquests that they want and keep getting it repeatedly until they get all their gear and just burn themselves out indirectly ?
Potentially, if you’re able to queue a bit.
It’s one of those things where a lot of people are going to hard grind out conquest gear and be at an item level advantage over those who are generally content to do their weekly cap stuff and progress at a reasonable pace.
There also WILL be an uptick in higher geared players farming all forms of content, from bgs to low mmr arena to quickly hammer out games for conquest.
Stay strong.
It’s scary out there.

So basically you’re saying I’m going to be looking at the floor quite a bit Not even from CC chains but just being one shot at all the time if I read that right?
I mean heck I’ve already got a target on my back I play a human paladin so Some extra blood in the water Probably won’t matter too much if I’m going to get one shot I’m going to get 1 shot.
Besides there’s no way in heck it can possibly be worse than the classic pvp or the tbc PVP grind If there’s absolutely no way it could be that bad.
I’m not sure. Usually in Shadowlands a new season is a great time to come back because (in this case) you’d be able to earn 285 honor gear from bgs, which puts you on par with the best gear from last season (also 285) where the only thing people will have over you is their weekly 800 conquest work of ranked stuff.
As of Tuesday people will be able to get up to…311, I think? Although it’ll be like 90k honor.
Gotcha like I said I haven’t even gotten a chance to step in I haven’t even gotten a chance to finish my covenant campaign Nor have I finished zarif mortist I’m still on that question to give you an idea that’s how far behind I am.
And I think I’m at renown level 39 I think Like I said I’m stepping back into the game And playing major catch up I will be honest I am looking a lot at dragon flight.
And speaking from the paladins perspective If the tree looks OK but it has a lot of work that it needs That and I really wish blizzard would stop trying to push the stupid horse on us.
Or at least make it cool anyway thank you for your help and advice.

People throw the 30% vers around a lot but really 25 is good when you get your tier set. You are talking about a dmg reduction of 2.5% going from 25 to 30. So those 20k templar verdicts you get hit by will instead be 19,500.
So essentially, get the 4 pc and then honor/conquest in all places other than legendary. If you end up with 25% vers you’ll be fine.

K thank you because like I said I’m at 24% versatility at this point and well 40 mastery now granted I’m relying on the auction house so it’s always random but yeah.
You probably want to be hitting 28% at a minimum
I mean again I was trying to hit 30% but but maybe I can get away with 28 I don’t know it’s going to happen when I finally get my chance to get the shoulders
