Interesting take… I’m an old, as well. How is the game that pushes you into the endgame loot treadmill the older person’s game, when comparing it to something designed to be slower paced and less competitive?
I never want to hear the weeb excuse again when 9.1 added an honest to God DBZ fight to WoW.
Older people are creatures of habit. I know I am.
Which is why I chase the experience that WoW first provided more than a decade ago. WoW itself is a very different game. I’m only hanging around because of my history with it, but I am keeping an eye out for anything that could rekindle that passion I once held for the genre.
Just look at some of the most famous social media content creators for WoW: they are at the age where two of them (publicly) got hair transplants while the biggest one is still a holdout.
And they’re not the only well-known people connected to WoW who use hair ‘enhancement’ products. I think we know who I’m talking about.
Note that this isn’t a criticism of any effort to utilize hair enhancement products. Most guys look better with hair on their head (unless they are part of some nationalist movement or gang).
Been playing WoW since vanilla. I’ve taken breaks here and there but always come back to WoW, so that’s one reason.
I’m an older gamer. I have a career and family, only have time for one game at a time anyways.
I’ve played graphically beautiful games but I still enjoy the silly, cartoony graphics of WoW. I have a lot of history in this game, a lot of nostalgia. People complain about the “outdated mechanics”, but I enjoy those too. People over-analyze the cinematics and narratives.
Frankly I find it annoying that there’s so much about Final Fantasy in this forum. Doesn’t that game have its own forum?
Nope. Comes down to a few reasons.
- I watched a friend play it for about a half hour once when I was over at his house before a D&D session. It looked boring as crap.
- Not a fan of the animation style. WoW and SWTOR are far more visually appealing, both in different ways.
- All of these “FF14 does it better” posts have honestly gotten to be so annoying that they’ve turned me off from wanting to try it. Ever.
- I have only one friend who plays it (see #1), and he only occasionally plays it now. In WoW I have many friends who still play. Essentially, there’s no incentive for me to switch.
As a pvp player, there is no reason to play ff14. So that’s what is what’s stopping me.
