What's splay's weakness?

TSG with Kyrian Warrior is a complete counter. A Warlock can’t kite two grips, gap closers from the Warrior, Spear. They can’t get away a lot but not enough to escape DK and Warrior.

Double Hybrid Caster also does very well into it. Both DPS just spam heal your healer when they get Mind Games.

Priest healer is the worst for the comp. The Lock should just die to melee cleaves since there’s no physical damage protection outside of Pain Sup. Stopping drinks and allowing your healer to drink is really the best counter. Shadowplay is pretty weak without a Rdruid.

There’s hardly any Affliction Locks that are actually glad right now. The ones that are have been 2700+ in past expansions.

This is so spot on! We’re trying so hard and making great plays, matches last long and super good at stopping go’s but outside of convoke killing potential is super low even if we coordinate a nice triple CC.

For example we queue into ret warr and last until deep damp but eventually just lose because they ride boomy all game and ret can off heal any pressure we do even if we save bolt for him while healer is beamed. Can only win this if warr and ret are going full mongo and eat a full convoke deep game

Or any fire mage/x we have lots of control to stop the combust but still very hard to land kills.

Splay wins that matchup after 12-15mins unless they troll/throw.

This is not the primary win condition for Splay. Not sure why people misunderstand this.

I’d imagine the answer to splay is probably a melee cleave that is so belligerently aggressive they can maintain uptime, but so far it seems pretty well-off into just about everything if played well (which seemingly few teams can do).
Strangely enough, MW actually softcounters Splay because of those dumb AF healing spheres circumventing VT/UA dispel protection for no reason.

Let the warlock free cast, he’s not killing anything by himself. Sure he will rot your whole team down to 20% if you don’t purge dark soul (tell your shaman to purge dark soul/PI instantly from warlock) but the lock will never actually kill anything. If you train the shadow priest all game you’ll stop their kill potential.

Warlocks can do triple your damage but they cannot kill you unless your healer is OOM. That’s why they are bad. Imagine if warriors did triple your damage but could never kill until deep deep damp…instead they can do half the damage of a warlock and kill in a stormbolt.

Stop gate and pure aggression. It’s that easy, if you’re a melee waiting for a Lock to get positioned you’re going to lose all day. They’re hoping you run away. The only thing Lock is good for dragging on games for people who play passively. The counter is not playing like a scared pus pus but that’s the best way to get glad as a hybrid DPS the past two expansions.

some maps locks gonna 100% get the gate off no matter what tho

even if they do a scuffed gate positioning (like not on a z-axis location) the position change from gating alone is still very stronk

i think it is best as others have said to kill spriest and purge/line the DS

P sure the only way you beat that is out mana baring their healer. Since hpalla mana isn’t too hot anymore it’s prob super aids and lock pet makes it hard to drink, need to turn evil pet maybe and go for it while ur boomy off heals as much as possible.

Unironically healing spheres is about the only useful thing mistweaver has going for it at the moment… So yeah mistweavers counter UA locks but they’re trash into literally everything else, so as soon as mistweavers come back UA locks will die out.

They should always get the gate off. I always drop mine the millisecond the gate opens just to be sure…

Splay is my favorite comp to play, with 2 priests and UA you need to stop mindgames at all cost on your healer or you’ll probably lose

Yes, that is why there are SPlays dominating the leader boards. Oh wait, they are not.

With the UA+ mindgames interaction I have a feeling this will change really soon :wink:

if you get connected to outside of a stun by anything except a feral rn as an aff lock you are misplaying

I hope so, but its not easy to align it perfectly to be effective. It all depends if the opponent is reading the situation correctly. It has to be a fresh UA, or UA+Glare before the midgames lands.

You basically need to tunnel the warlock until he commits to kiting into a bad spot. Root him out of LOS of his healer and then blow him up.

You’ll have to remain conscious of interrupting mind games at all times. When they go for a silence / stun combo on your healer you need to be saving kicks & beam exclusively to interrupt that go, or be in a position to cyclone / bear incap. This is because they will get UA off on your healer during the stun when they go for mind games, so if he tries to dispel mind games they can blow him up.

If they focus a dps with mind games then it’s much more manageable for your healer.
