For reals? I may have to make a few more.
On my server the living steel is like 750g each, and it takes 15, so that’s over 11k in the main metal mat alone. Plus there’s the ghost iron for the 15 energy sources and the two plus weeks to make them, and also going to learn to make the pets. So maybe 12k or thereabouts for mats and maybe worth a few additional thousands for the time/effort?
If people are willing to shell out 30k or more, more power to them. I’ve tried selling them before and only ended up getting around 16k-17k each. For comparison, Sky Golems that required twice as much mats to make are selling for just under 40k on my server right now.
Also keep in mind that just because the pets are listed on the AH at 30K or more doesn’t mean people are buying them at that price, or if they do, that they sell that often.
For that high a price, one should seriously consider rolling an alt with engineering and alchemy, farm the ores each day in Halfhill on your little plots of land, make your daily energy source and living steel transmute, and in a couple of weeks make your own.
Alternatively, for just the living steel and a couple K gold, I make those pets and the mount for guildies if they want them, so you may want to check with your guild if there are those willing to help you out.

Some battle pets are always going to be harder to get or more expensive 
You can cook on Pierre, and Rascal-Bot is a Bad Robot reference and has a pretty unique set of attacks, and any pet like that will always have a niche use.

If you look closely at the Vault Bot rare and pet, it’s just the Rascal Bot with a metal box over it.
