(I know it’s pre patch and this stuff isn’t super important but I’m just curious what everyone else is using)
I’ve been testing a few;
Memory is a meme, you just stand there spamming Plague on everything
Meme Beam is ok, but with chorus gone it’s not as good imo
And Blood of the Enemy seems decent, but again, we don’t stack crit as much so it seems much less impactful
What essence is good for shadow now?
I run in a guild group and all of us (cept tank) use world vein for massive main stat gain.
Blood of the Enemy is the best essence for Shadow in m+ because it lines up with Voidform, more crit = longer Voidforms (If talented to Hungering Void which you should) and more shadowy apparitions, and it also synergizes with one of our best trinkets Manifesto of Madness. Minors could be Lucid Dreams, Conflict & Strife, Focusing Iris, or Crucible of Flame (it’s overtuned in pre patch) and maybe Vision of Perfection minor, don’t know if it’s good. You can check what talents, essences, traits Shadow Priests use for raids and m+ in warcraft logs.

I’ve been trying different variations. Memory is just memes though if you want to pump out raw damage against bosses, but is kind of mediocre for dealing with trash which is like 90% of most dungeons.
So lately I been running Focusing Essence Major and Blood/Crucible/Breath minors.

seconded - this is what i ran for essentially the entirity of bfa, for a little while i ran the Azerite golem from EP for a temporary little bit.
Blood major at 3 is better than beam now, lucid can be strong depending on how you’re pulling (I know nat’s been running it in high keys to test it). CLF is still the best single target but offers nothing for aoe or short pulls and is resigned mostly to raids.
Beam and Worldvein are overall just worse than the other choices.
For trash-heavy dungeons, especially on fortified, Blood of The Enemy is great. Lines up with cooldowns. Crit is awesome for apparitions. The only downside is you have to be in melee range, but It’s easy enough to manage.
For boss-centric dungeons, especially on tyrannical (think upper Mechagon and King’s Rest), I really like Condensed Life Force. Lines up for every 2nd Voidform, lasts a long time, gives a handful of bonuses while it’s up. It’s what a lot of Priests are using for Single Target encounters in Nyalotha as well.
