With the release of World of Warcraft Classic, I see many players already wanting to know what is in store for us after Naxxaramas. While the majority of players are screaming for The Burning Crusade, there are a few things players are forgetting about. Vanilla had two major content items that were never finished/released. Yes, that’s right. Vanilla had another 40 man battle ground, located in Azshara, and another 40 man raid, the Emerald Dream, that never seen the light of day. The maps were there in the game files and many videos have made it onto the internet showing these maps and placeholders for some of the bosses. So, what do you want after Naxxaramas? Would you rather see new content to WoW Classic in the form of new BGs and Raids or would you rather move on to TBC?
Honestly i am hoping for more of a Classic + (new content). I have watched a number of videos about it and i have spoken to alot of different people about TBC or new content. At the end of the day with TBC they will see a pattern of people either joining or staying with the older content and it will only develop into a pattern of blizzard re-releasing their content. I am honestly either hoping for new content added to classic.
I agree. I noticed how we begged for Classic and now that we have it people are already begging for Burning Crusade and Wrath of the Lich King. Let’s have more content onto Classic.
I’m 100% down for Classic +
My idea of it is unreleased content that had originally been planned but never saw the light of day, plus content from later expansions as it makes sense, but tuned for Classic (60 is still the cap, new zones are leveling zones, new dungeons fill the gaps or even fit in at 60, new raids are additional progression beyond Naxx [or Emerald Dream]). I’d love to see additional class balance like we had in TBC, and taunts added to more classes. I’d also love to see Blizz finally finish giving Shamans the tools needed to tank raids. Additionally, I would love to see Alliance Shamans and Horde Paladins, whether or not that means Draenei and Blood Elves.
And, I’m probably reaching with this one, but I’d also love to see Demon Hunters added as a class you can start at level 1, at some point. Maybe even Death Knights.
I think it depends on how finished those unfinished products are.
Like did they build the zones but never actually theorycraft the bosses, work on the fights, and loot? Did the BG get stopped halfway through conception with a decent design philosophy or is it just a map?
If you just have the maps then you’re asking 2019 to try to recreate content in line with how vanilla was designed and that opens the door to arguments of you went overboard or underboard and need to change it.
On top of that purely from a business standpoint pushing forward with TBC and WoTLK seems easier than creating new content and vanilla thru WoTLK is typically considered the golden age of WoW. I think the bean counters will drive that decision making process.
Classic as a museum game and brand new TBC servers.
Then TBC left as a museum game and brand new WotLK servers.
emerald dream was going to be a zone, the missing 40 man raid was Karazhan, which was re-tuned into a 10man for level 70s.
Do some research. A lot of the Dark Portal and BC was unfinished vanilla content.
I would like to see the content that never got released I think that would be the best thing for the game.
I’d love to see new content for Classic.
But I worry it would open a Pandora’s box because we also have people asking for things like LFG, which would cause me to quit. That’s me, but there are many strong, contradictory opinions on what changes different players would be okay with. If the player base supports any changes at all, there’s no telling where that could lead.
TBC 100 percent. Better talents, better dungeons and raids, and infinitely better PvP. Classic is fun for sure, but my heart is with TBC and it always has been.
“you didn’t say that. Tell me you did not just say that”
The next big raid was actually going to be Karazhan, not the emerald dream. That’s what I am excited for - imagine a 40-man sized Maiden…
…or a 40-man sized Moroes.
in most cases, they just built the zone geometry but didn’t add spawns or quests. azshara was unique in that they finished the geometry, added spawns, but didn’t bother with quests. both azshara and silithus were essentially unfinished at launch.
Imo there will be no classic +. Maybe in 2 to 3 years tbc classic.
That is true lot of the TBC content was suppose to be for classic all you have to do is look at the map and will see it.
Not to mention that now that I think about it the game was initially going to have outland and northrend but they got cut from vanilla for just too much in a game.
When you think about that my personal theory as to what happened with WoW’s decline is that after they went through all that initially conceived content and had to come up with brand new stuff from scratch is when the cracks started to form. Obviously they start on new content early on, but in the case of TBC and WoTLK a lot of the legwork was done all the way back on vanilla launch whereas Cata+ was stuff they had to conceptualize on their own (probably around the end of TBC when WoTLK was close to launch).
My vote (not that it counts) would be for more Classic content as well.
I’m scared for Classic+ due to Blizzard possibly screwing it up and making it like retail.
The Azshara BG had development stopped because players were complaining about the imbalance of Alterac Valley. The dev team had to stop and work on trying to balance the map without changing the entirety of AV… over and over and over and over. The map was a PVE style BG that was supposed to have a raid boss in one portion of the map. The horde and alliance were to fight over the raid boss much like you see in open world pvp when world bosses spawn. How far they got in the development is unknown to me. However, there are several placeholders on many of these maps.
