What's Khadgar up to?

Just a question and trying to hear out some hypothesis’s.

Eating ice cream by the tub on his couch as he sobs because we dumped him for a hotter, younger Archmage.

A more serious answer would be he’s probably trying to wrestle Karazhan back under some semblance of control, because as a base of operations and a trove of magical power and knowledge it basically can’t be beat. If the Horde and the Alliance are fighting, he’ll need all the power he can get for himself and his allies in order to take the fight to the enemy.

But I like my first theory better.

He’s in limbo. He had to be removed from the story because his “Why can’t we all just get along?” philosophy is totally incompatible with this expansion’s premise, which involves turning the Horde into a bunch of insane murderous idiots who cannot be reasoned with.

Losing his coin collection…again.

I think it was stated somewhere (but don’t quote me on that) that he didn’t want any part in a faction war right after helping both sides deal with the Legion? So he focused his attention on trying to wrangle Kara back into a working state and scooting any leftover nasties out of it.

He is restoring kara where he will make his own faction with black jack and hookers and dad jokes

He makes a cameo in the Silithus pre-expac series where he states he will not take up arms against any Hero who fought in the Legion War and says he will devote his time to finding ways to help Magni… and that’s the last that’s been seen of him.

Yeah, I’m pretty sure he’s restoring Kara and looking for a way to magic away the freaking SKYSCRAPER-SIZED SWORD IN THE PLANET THAT EVERYONE IS IGNORING WHILE FIGHTING OVER TITAN BLOOD LIKE A BUNCH OF TWO-YEAR-OLDS!

Last we heard, we was working on helping heal Azeroth. Which seems to involve reading a lot of books in Karazhan. Apparently he helped Magna with the idea to use our artifacts to help drain Sargeras’ sword.

Archmage Khadgar says: It seems our victory on Argus was a hollow one. With his final blow, Sargeras has done much more than bury his blade in the heart of our world.
Archmage Khadgar says: I had hoped that after the war against the Legion, the people of Azeroth would build a new future together. But now the unity we forged has been shattered.
Archmage Khadgar says: As the life essence of Azeroth bleeds out, the leaders of the Alliance and Horde scramble to claim it as a resource. Blades are drawn, and the tides of war are rising once again.
Archmage Khadgar says: But I will not take up arms against heroes on either side. Not after all we’ve been through.
Archmage Khadgar says: Instead, I will go to Karazhan and confer with my old mentor, Medivh. Perhaps somewhere in his ancient texts lies the knowledge needed to heal this world.

Went ta Karazhan ta speak with Khadgar. Studyin’ those old tomes o’ his, we came up with an idea. No tellin’ if it’s gonna work, but we gotta try.

N’Zoth is chilling there while he waits for 8.3

I’d imagine he’s studying ways to combat the Old Gods in defence of Azeroth / cleaning up left over Legion in his wake throughout - As well as rolling his eyes at, like Gavik said the Horde being a bunch of insane murderous idiots who can’t be reasoned with at the time; patiently waiting them to have a Snickers bar & calm down (You’re not you when your hungry :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ) - All that being said though, hopefully the civil war weeds out who in the Horde are willing to negotiate and who are not / are essentially the savage personification within it.
From what it appears in Nazjatar - Lor’Themar & Thalyssra have shown that they are willing to negotiate and work together for the greater good.
