Whats going on at blizzard?

I’m not too sure that this little pearl of a patch wasn’t something thing they gave to ion so he would have something to do…

Not if said raid tier was a fated Bastion of Twilight, Dragon Soul, etc.

Every product in any corporation in a capitalist economy is made by marketing and businessmen. Remember who the owners of companies are. They are stock holders.

Now when you talk to stock holders do you ever hear them talk about how they want the company, whose stock they just bought, to be a good corporate citizen?

I never have. All I hear them talk about is how they want their stock price to go up for either “taking profits” in the sort term or as a long term investment.

Oh they sure did. But people should have known better than to expect real content out of this kind of off-cycle patch.

well i recall reading an article by the dev who worked on vanilla and created the battlenet, then quit when blizz listed on the stockmarket and went to work on guild wars. then quit and started his own company, who were working on a zombie game. he said, dont list your game on the stockmarket cause they’ll interfere in the creativity of the game to cut costs and maximize profits. this was like 8 years ago at least

And what is that game? Are they still around? Do they have the kind of subscriptions WoW is seeing? You can usually tell the companies who do not watch their bottom line. They are the companies that go out of business.

nobody does. lol but its true. creativity takes a back seat to money and politics

What an apologist. This is why the world and everything in it sucks.

I mean, I still don’t have beta access but THANK GOD the launcher has a PLUNDERSTORM BUTTON!!!

So what if it uses “wow assets”? It isn’t part of WoW, it isn’t an actual patch to the game where the content is included in the retail game. It is a separate game requiring a separate clicky log in which they just planted on the WoW retail server list. It could just as easily have had its own log in, like HoTs or Hearthstone.

It is - a - separate - game. People can deny it all they like, denial isn’t just a river in Egypt. It’s something lot of people here practise in order to avoid the facts.

It’s a part of WoW given that you need the WoW client to access it and using WoW assetts.

Just like how dota 1 is literally a part of warcraft 3 game.

DOTA is a completely different game. It started as a mod, and then turned into its own game, with its own devs, and own install pathing. You know this.

Exactly. It may be part of the Retail installation, but if it were truly part of WoW, it would have been a rotating playlist like Comp Stomp and all the other real variations of WoW PvP.

Instead, the pvpers only get the satisfaction of slaughtering people who just /bow, instead of that AND honor/conquest.

dota 2 is a new game. Dota 1 isnt. dota 1 isnt a “mod” its a custom game. but still uses wc3 assets

I am soooooo tired of seeing these posts so i will say it again. SEASON 4 IS NOT A REAL SEASON. It is a bonus we get instead of grinding face in the dsme content until next expansion release. “We got no new raid or dungeons cry cry cry” just stop. We have 3 new expansions with ridiculous amounts of content coming. Be patient. Lets not act lioe the majority of you dont just play for a couple weeks, complain there is no content becauee you burned yourself out on it immediately. Its baffling this topic keeps coming up

Good GOD, how dense are you?

Someone (might’ve been you, I don’t even care enough to double-check) claimed Plunderstorm was a BRAND NEW GAME CODED FROM THE GROUND-UP FROM SCRATCH.

That is hilariously WRONG. It’s runs in the WoW engine. It uses WoW assets. Hello? That right there means NOT FROM SCRATCH. It’s not more “a brand new game coded from scratch” than any raid or BG are.

Y’know, its possible to disagree with someone without being personally insulting. Its a losing situation from the getgo.

Use a few more CAPS to make your point because frankly it needs the turboboost to even get off the ground. A few points in rebuttal:

  • If it was a part of WoW - why was it not a part of the actual game as other patches have been? Why does it require a separate log in? Why could we not just log into retail and there it is, as happens for things like battlegrounds, instances, events, Darkmoon Faire, etc? Why, because it can’t. Because it is a different minigame using different coding and different gameplay systems.

  • the fact that is uses “assets” means nothing. Hearthstone uses characters from WoW. Heroes of the Storm uses characters from woW. Warcraft 3 uses characters from WoW; in fact it was the precursor of WoW. Assets are just code, they can be copied and adapted into another format.

Does it? Then why isn’t running in the WoW engine inside the damned WoW game? Because - now slow down and watch carefully - it - is - a - separate - game.

Show me the install pathing of Plunderstorm. If it is a seperate game, it would be in its own install pathing in the base WoW folder, like classic is.

Tech talk! You win. :sunglasses:

…how is install pathing something you are unfamilar with? You are asked where to install something every time you install something.
