Introducing Party Sync
During this PTR we’re experimenting with a new mode that makes it easier for players in a party to do quests and play together: Party Sync. When players activate Party Sync, everyone in the party becomes aligned to the same quest state, including phases. By mousing over a quest in your tracker, you can see who is on the quest, what their progress is, and who’s ready to turn in the quest. There’s something else we’re going to try out on the PTR, a “replay” quest feature. This will allow players who have already completed certain quests to replay those quests with their friends for rewards that are appropriate to their current level, regardless of the original level of the quest.
We’re also relaxing level restrictions on queueing for instanced content with your friends. This allows lower-level players to queue for content in their level range, and higher-level players can choose to join them by having their level scaled down while they’re in the instance. This feature will be available for dungeon instances for PTR Week 1, with PvP instances being flagged in the following weeks. Please note that unlike Timewalking, when your level is scaled down via Party Sync you will temporarily lose access to abilities and powers (such as Azerite traits) with requirements that exceed your reduced level.
This is the first step to bringing back CM and Mage Tower rewards, mark my words. The big problem with tuning those is accounting for “rented power” systems that weren’t in place when the content was out.
You lost me at “party”, what is that?
I like the idea of it, after they killed power leveling it really broke my ability to sort of “drop in” and help a friend or guildy level. I either had to level with them entirely or have something within a small range of them.
With this system, if im reading it correctly, I should be able to group up, meet up, and do the quests with them by being scaled down to an appropiate level to match them. Even if I have done the quests im helping with before I can still get a monetary reward for doing it.
If it works as advertised then it should be pretty good overall and allow me to help friends and enjoy older content without making and entirely new character.
Seems like a good idea to me, playing with friends who just started their characters AND getting rewards out of it is a yes in my book.
Absolutely love it. There’s a lot of low level content I miss when I hit max, and being able to do that whenever I want is a huge boon.
In particular, some brackets of low level BGs, while broken and weird, are fun in their own quirky way. I have to wonder if people aren’t going to use Party Sync to twink, though.
What they are calling Party Sync is something i remember people asking for (including myself) during Pandaria. It’s about time.
I don’t have friends really that I play WoW with, or even a Guild. But the idea isn’t new, but for WoW it sounds like a really nice thing.
I have no social life to speak of, but I think it sounds like a great idea. It’s cool that they’re making it easier for people to do stuff together.
Meh.
Cool, but would rather they fix the damn game.
The party sync seems like it’ll work out well for people that get stymied from playing with their friends on different phases.
I’m more interested in the replay feature though. It’d be nice if they could introduce it for major quest lines regardless of parties, such as the class campaigns or the war campaign. Bioware did that for the SWTOR KotFE and KotET campaign chapters and I enjoyed it. You could replay chapters as you wanted but your original choices were still locked in (not that WoW has a ton going on in the way of real choices).
That could prove to be awesome. Be nice to fill in various gaps of gear depending on how the gear scales up.
I’m still hyped about the party sync as it’ll let guildies play with their kids who are much lower level.
What im wondering is can the rewards forge up? or is it a base ilvl maybe being useless to me? Not sure how its going to fit in game will it be like timewalking ilvl wise ext?
Long overdue. Going to make getting new players/alts leveled much more enjoyable playing with max leveled friends. I’m looking forward to it.
Yeah, the replay may or may not be a good thing depending on the limits on how high the reward can go. Worst case scenario, it scales to max level, in which case it is only useful to a fresh 120 and only barely useful.
Another option, which could be good OR bad, would be that it scales upwards like WQ rewards, with the same caps. Which could make it useful for some, but also lead to a “I must do these replay quests for gearing!” mentality.
So it really depends on HOW the replay feature works and how high the gear scales up.
So they are doing what City of Heroes does with Sidekicking and Exemplaring. It’s about time.
From the sounds of it, think more of Timewalking.
IE a level 120 could be in the same group as a level 90 and they’re both at the same comparable power level.
I think if the ilvl is the base of timewalking but if it can forge up warforge and titanforge it might be worth putting in some time doing it its ok they trying something new but i just hope it doesn’t end up being a temporary or meh feature that barely gets used.
Absolutely yes. Anything that helps promote player cohesion is fine by my book.
