What's Changing (and Not!) in Season 2

Yes and every other profession got that new craftable item except the darkmoon decks. It was great in legion and WoD that the decks were relevant for each raid tier and hoping they continue that in BFA.

The way class changes are being handled is puzzling. You implied in a Q&A that you did not want to shake up the meta game in the middle of a season and yet you guys do class changes mid-season instead of at the start of or right before a new one.

Now we’re looking at an 8.1.5 patch somewhere during the season. It will shake things up, unless you aren’t planning on class changes (I really don’t know, communication and response to feedback in that department are almost non-existent).

I mean you did say you liked the Legion patch model and wanted it to continue but so far it seems like you guys aren’t keeping up with it.

I agree, I would also love to see some PvP vendors added back into the game.

Actually, the bosses currently drop 385. And I believe the post above states it will increase the quest and boss drops to 400.

There has been a large absence of Weapon chests for emisary awards on the Alliance side, with HUGE streaks of Azerite power being the norm, will anything be done to randomize this a little better? Alliance need weapons just as bad as the Horde do. Thank you at least for putting in a change to at least make loot spec matter, I saw it above and love that you finally listened to that suggestion from us.

I see you are trying to make a warfront not have split gear levels. Instead of “if Alliance owns Darkshore at turn over, we will keep giving season 1 awards”, please consider “warfronts will not turn over control if the attacking phase would cover two different award levels”.

You are creating perverse incentives. “Don’t turn in materials for AP and reputation like you always do. If you turn in materials, you are screwing your entire faction out of higher ilevel gear.”

Sooooo stille heroic raid level gear while Afk in Warfront or tagging a world boss… no wonder people don’t show up for raids.

Thanks for this!

What about Island Expeditions? Will those see any difficulty increases, or will these remain as is(essentially becoming easier/faster with the new gear ilvls)?

Will existing emmisary azerite gear have an extra trait ring or is it new pieces only?

Is there any hope for those doing solely M+ content getting residuum pieces?

I believe it was billed as being similar to badges from BC/wrath/etc, but with no way of getting azerite from m+, you can’t actually do any farming from it aside from the abysmal amount in the weekly chest.

It looks like you’re forcing the m+ community to do raiding or pvp, making it substantially inferior to gearing in end game content (emissary azerite will mean we’re getting 385 azerite gear but the rest of our M+ gear is 410? So we go from 370az/380cache (-10 ilvl) to 385az/410cache (-25 ilvl). We could go for a random azerite piece i guess, but even getting one 415 piece will take forever, much less a specific one.

Can we start getting residuum for completing keys/killing bosses/something else?

One RANDOM item per month. I did the 385 Darkshore quest on 4 toons and only ONE got an upgrade.

I don’t understand , so are they trying to push you to play certain content based on the upgrade avail in that content ?? …there is another patch coming in feb 22 I think… I might wait fo rthat one…

Yeah but it shouldn’t be impossible either. I feel there should be balance but if your going for a certain piece good luck. You may get 1 this whole season.

The prices and DE yields for 400+ azerite are out of place. In the current season, Azerite Scrap/DE yields 20-25% of the random item cost of a piece, and each tier (15 ilvl) increases the cost by a factor of around 3.

If you were to follow this pattern you’ve established closely with season 2 you would get the following costs/DE values

385 - random cost 165, specific cost 675, de value 35
400 - random cost 500, specific cost 2000, de value 125
415 - random cost 1500, specific cost 6000, de value 375

Inflating the 400 costs by 35% and deflating its DE value, and then inflating the 415 random cost by 15%, the specific costs by 20%, and deflating its DE value is a faithless punitive retention strategy that puts on display the contempt for players time that has permeated this expansion. You should fix this as a show of good faith to players that you are not shamelessly nickle-and-dime-ing them for inflated play time stats.

This is the kind of preemptive transparency that I would like to see more of

I think there’s some confusion going on here. The 8.1.5 patch is not out yet. It’s not coming out on Jan 22nd either. The only things happening on the 22nd are what Ion said, Battle of Dazar’Alor, PVP Season 2 and Mythic+ Season 2.
This is not the patch you’re looking for…

Please Blizzard, can you address this! We really would love to have PvP gear vendors back again. Thank you!

Back in Oct '18 when they first announced the azerite armor vendor, they said they were still discussing PVP vendors and wanted to see how this vendor was doing.

Apparently they’re still discussing it … maybe 8.3.5.5.4.3.4.5.5

While I agree that is the plan, I disagree that this is sufficient. A major problem with Azerite in 8.0 was the lack of options to obtain higher level pieces. Fix 1 was caches, fix 2 was residuum and the vendor. By taking away the first they are reverting back to Azerite being too rare. As it stands now it will take ~2.5 weeks per 415 random piece if you are doing +10s (and aren’t a mythic raider). That’s not a major improvement over Azerite being RNG out of the M+ box. If they want to stick to their guns regarding respec costs and obtaining multiple sets of Azerite for different specs they need to make higher level pieces available right away to either use or dust. Scaling to 400 doesn’t mean that people will be getting 400 right away, it will still take most people weeks to hit the ilvl required to start getting 400 pieces.

Are you ever going to raise the cap on communities? And show when a member was last online?

Agreed. This just seems like a silly and arbitrary decision by Blizzard. We’re only allowed to run the scenario once a month, we’re only allowed to fight the World Boss once a month so why not scale it up with Darkshore?

After all, wasn’t the high iLvl rewards that the Warfront drops (Quest & WB) the reason @Watcher gave on his last Q&A for the extreme infrequency in being allowed to do the Warfronts and the reason that their frequency isn’t/won’t be increased??

Seems a bit contradictory to me… :man_facepalming:
