What's a good way to get into RBGs?

I am ok at PvP.

My biggest downfall is not knowing other classes. I play rogue, that’s it. Never seriously played another class and don’t plan on it. I know my spec (outlaw) really really well and assassination pretty well, but other classes are a complete mystery.
I want to grind for that beautiful mount in season 2. I am not sure to do arena or RBGs, I prefer RBGs because I enjoy them more

I just don’t know how to get into groups that require rating, I don’t know enough about BG leading to start one on my own.

Or do you think it will be better just do grind arena’s?

I don’t know lol, guess it’s two questions

Gotta grind games. Q yolos until you get links. Rough grind, but it’s gotta be done one way or the other. Take the time to learn “rogue things” in BGs. Sitting a base… stalling FCs, etc. You got an important role to fill in RBGs

I did YOLOs until 1,400 or so, and then I queued with a small group of 3-5 friends, picking up people from the group finder to fill in spots we don’t have.

There are also RBG discords, here’s a link to their thread:

I haven’t yet done any RBGs with them, but they all seem kind and laid-back. They’ve also done some teaching events that are on twitch or youtube which you might find helpful (about stuff like base sitting/stealing.)

I wish you the best of luck, and I hope that you have as much fun in RBGs as I have been having, it’s a blast!

grinding is such a waste of time, actually take time to youtube how other classes work. but if u just play rated you’ll notice which spells are important like i didn’t youtube any classes and just used top level tribal knowledge to get 2400 this season (from being a sub 24 rbg rat all of legion)

It’s all a matter of exposure. Just constantly keep an open mind, pay attention to patterns, and ask questions. I have played with plenty of players who are 2k+ but only play one class and are still ignorant about other class spells. PvP is all about networking as well, if you find a good group of folks that are chill and you seem to vibe with, send 'em a BTAG request and group with them more! Chances are they are looking for friends as well. In addition, RBG leading is a bit rough in the beginning but that becomes easier with map knowledge and, again, exposure. I wish you the best of luck in your journey to get your mount!

You got to play with us one day! Lol. I keep seeing you advertise our community thank you by the way, very much appreciated but you never join us! Come come! I promise we don’t bite.

I just tried for the first time yesterday then pigged some comical losses though YOLOs RBGs

The best way to get into RBGs is to play a bunch of random yolo RBG groups and develop a small friends list or community. Be sure to only play your main and read up on the most common RBG strategies. After you get a grasp on PVP basics of strat, class mech, comps (not as important), and communicating in discord (only if you want to win in yolo), you can start leading them. If a trusty friend (melee/rdps) can effectively lead TC, you’ll do just fine with yolos up to 2.1k. after that other factors weigh more heavily on winning. I mained prot pally to 2k this season with the wierdest possible comps. The success was people respecting and communicating all the time in discord and adding people to your PVP community. They’ll come back if they have fun and the talkative ones (ones who aren’t muted/silent100%) will learn. To play better together. Had a DH two games this season and maintained a 50-80% win ratio throughout the season. Towards higher rating it went down but you don’t loose rating if you team against higher mmrs.

Were you the flag carrier as prot? If so what talents did you run with.

My talents change depending on role though on FC maps I am the FC 99% of the time. Usually my cookie cutter talents as FC are Holy Shield// Crusaders-Judgement//FoJ//Cavalier//HoP//Consecrated Ground//Seraphim

PVP: Relentless//Hallowed Ground//Steed of Glory//Unbound Freedom though Cleansing Light, and many others are very good against ranged, and rot comps. Mobility is more important than. Survivability and I never use Seraphim unless it’s to assist in a kill. Keep charges of shield for survivability, can outrun most classes.

Know the comp meta. I think right now it’s priest, monks, everything else. DPS is boomkins, shadow priests, probably affy, and everything else. Not sure what the meta on flag carriers is but pay attention to that. That expac is was DH and maybe warrior. So if you saw a group running say a resto shaman or a guardian druid or 3 hunters and no rogue, mega yikes. My understanding is comp is more flexible than before with rot classes still being top, and, of course, rogue. But you want a rogue who can steal bases and harass the enemy flag carrier. If they can’t do that, mega yikes. For healers you want to see at least a priest and monk. Even in yolo this is the first sign of success.

Rated bgs are a blast man, just an overall better experience.

When you do arena if you lose 1-2 games your group disbands. Or you play a group of friend that all synergies well and you get crushed even at lower brackets. Unless you have high experience previously it’s extremely difficult to get into decent arena team. One mistake in arena and you could die ending in a loss. A mistake in an rbg there is at least a possibility to recover .

Rbgs has more conq reward, and easier in my opinion to get wins. The community is not as elitist and at least in my experience have 2500+ Xp people playing with 0 xp people. You just need to look for the magic word of “yolo”, and it’s exactly that. Your random group of 10 yolo players battles another group of 10 yolo players and you have a decent chance at winning.

Joined a yolo that was 95% Spanish speaking. In discord all I heard

Unrecognizable Spanish " zergling ninja mine" unrecognizable Spanish

We lost but it was fun. Arenas I feel like are too stressful
