Whats a good monitor

Any good monitors to grab?

If you’re cool with 1080p, the best thing going right now is this 27" 144hz ASUS VG278Q on sale at Newegg for $199. It’s also one of the only budget monitors you’ll find that’s certified g-sync compatible, for what that’s worth.

I don’t have link posting privileges but search that up on Newegg and you’ll find it.

I’m an LG fan. Have two of their Ultragear IPS 144hz+ 1440p displays (LG 32GP83B and LG 27GL83B), and I really like them.

I’d skip VA monitors for gaming, but that’s me. Even in non-fast paced games you can still see the ghosting.

For less money, I hear positive things about the Gigabyte M27Q displays.

Such an ambiguous question. If you want the crowd to answer you might inform if you are into VR, 4k, 8k, 1080p, etc How much refresh rate do you need, or can handle? Are you using Nvidia or Radeon? Your question is so bad I will just say.

Google it.

The good news is that most Freesync monitors also are Gsync compatible. But of course you’ll want to check reviews to make sure.

Nvidia’s Gsync compatibility chart isn’t conclusive, as there are many that actually do work but not on the list. Usually looking up a formal review will reveal if it will work or not.

What do you consider good? High image quality, high refresh rate or a balance of both?

Personally I like an XDR from Apple right now. Not everyone needs something like that though.

If it’s for WoW, I’d probably think refresh times and stuff like that aren’t as important as resolution, contrast ratio, brightness, and image quality.

Asus has some really nice 4k moniters

Ultrawide!! 21:9 aspect ratio has been a revelation!!!

I think I actually gave “You” criticism for 32" displays.

Just wanted to say I happy to report I was wrong. Love mine now.

Pixio makes good monitors if with 1 major drawback: online orders only.

Pixio PX277 is a 1440p 144hz HDR monitor. There’s one model older on my desk and it’s more beautiful than my $700 Dell. I think I paid like 1/2 for the Pixio. The Pixio also worked with my Nvidia cards although I don’t it’s officially supported.

On sale presently, seems like possibly a Best Buy specific SKU of the monitor I already have listed above. Good deal.

Note: cursory google search reveals the panel is different manufacturer but slightly better or the same as the mainstream model. Biggest difference is the stand is a lot more basic.

It’s definitely not the most cost effective offering, but I’ve been pretty pleased with my AW2721D. Would never buy an Alienware computer, but the monitors are pretty nice. My particular unit has very uniform backlighting with little to no detectable light bleed (surprisingly difficult to find) and with brightness capping out at 600 nits it’s perfectly usable in a well lit room (also surprisingly uncommon, with a lot of monitors capping out at 300-350 nits). Color is also pretty good out of the box, though the lack of an sRGB mode is a bit of a bummer.

Do you own this currently? I’m building a new PC this month and am torn between the AW3821DW and the Samsung neo g9. PC will be able to handle either.

I have the 1440p version of that monitor and WoW flickers when I turn on g-sync.

I wish I hadn’t even recommended that monitor. Too much time has passed for me to edit or delete the post.
