So now that we’re moving on to this Siren Aisle I’m wondering what the Nerubians will get up to.
I’m thinking - probably not much which is a little unfortunate. I thought they were the highlight of the expansion thus far by being both pretty alien what with communicating via pheromones and having physiologically different castes. But also being pretty human what with markets, fairs and even at least one group therapy clinic.
I imagine they’ll turn up throughout WoW now much like the Tortollans and Tuskaar do. But do you think their role for the story is wrapped up in a web? Their evil usuper queen is dead and the triumvirate we’ve been supporting presumably has control now.
There is that bit about Xalatath being able to mind control the Ascended which I thought might lead into something. Especially as we discover this plot point with Voss. But their whole story seems kinda over by now.
So what do you think just the chapter one sort-of villains or do you think arachnid antics have only just begun?

I think it’s pretty likely that they’ll reappear during The Last Titan, when we’ll be heading up to Northrend and messing about in underground Titan facilities. It’s sensible that we’d bump up against Azjol-Nerub at that point, so having our own Nerubian buddies around makes sense.
I wouldn’t expect any more than minor token appearances between now and then, though.

I am hopeful, but don’t expect, for anubazal to be raised into undeath so that he can join the forsaken.

From what I know off the top of my head, by the time 11.1 begins, Queen Ansurek is dead and Neferess is partially recovering (though I think the altered body is permanent) with Arak’nai’s help. Xal’atath has also abandoned the Nerubians.
I think the Ascended will be shunned or form a faction of Xal’atath loyalists (the fact that she can mind-control them at any time doesn’t help). The majority of Nerubians will be willing to consider allying with the player characters, and Neferess will reclaim as much of her old self as possible. Especially since she’s the rightful queen and now everyone will know Ansurek was a usurper.
That said, the Earthen and Arathi - especially the Arathi - will have some understandable bad blood towards the Nerubians. Perhaps the historical grievances will drive the rest of the conflict in this expansion.
Ah good.
Horde allies to answer for the Alliance’s Arathi allies, then.

Remember the last time we helped a minion of the Old Gods overthrow their evil leader? I’m calling raid fodder.
probably some number will appear as disciples of the void in midnight, and our allies are unfortunately probably shelved from here. it’s possible that their city will become a staging ground in the lore for some new part of the campaign, but i imagine it’ll remain time-locked like suramar is. beyond that, idk, maybe as frequent as the niffen? they’ll probably remain underground and i can’t see that happening again in the trilogy.
edit: and of course northrend in the last titan, but that’s already been noted.
I think there’s a pretty hefty difference between the klaxxi who culturally value conquest and Old Gods worship versus nerubians who are almost the polar opposite.

he deserves his peace after all the wars I reckon. but I wouldve liked to see him pull out some final moves in last titan before he expired
Context matters in this instance.
- The Klaxxi made it very clear that they still worship Y’shaarj and should the Old God return, they are duty bound to serve him.
- The Nerubians rejected the Old Gods. Neferess executed a Faceless One when N’zoth tried to recruit the Azj’Kahet Nerubians to his cause during BFA.
It is a false comparison to compare the Nerubians we help in TWW to the Klaxxi in MoP.
