Whatever happened to Quality Control in t his game?

It just seems to get worse and worse. I try to be patient, to understand, to not complain here because I’ve always loved this game SO much and I understand bugs happen. But it’s getting to the point of seriously interfering with being able to play WoW as it should be played - for fun, entertainment and a relaxing experience.

Today, for example, doing a TW dungeon and having a boss glitch out twice. For no obvious reason. At the same time my GM was trying to do Gallywix on LFR, he glitched, got stuck in a phase and the raid wiped, and my poor GM just quit the run in frustration.

If things go wrong because of the players doing stupid thats just part of an MMO - but we shouldn’t have to fight against a flawed game. It’s just…unfair.

Fun fact. Monk hero talent graphical effects have been bugged since expac launch. And since the latest patch, touch of death and fists of fury will just straight decide not to work at all whenever they feel like it.

Then of course there’s the plethora of older expac bugs that got introduced due to 11.0. We’re rapidly getting to the point where I’d rather blizz not release any further expacs at all due to my fear of what else across the older expacs will suddenly break.

RIP to anyone trying to do the meta achieves from SL that award mounts and stuff as the maw events have also been completely broken since 11.0. Lmao.

Remember when shamans just didn’t get updated for War Within prepatch and had to wait until launch? They’re clearly pushing hard to get this “expansions in 18 months” thing out the door and this is what happens, cut corners everywhere.

Basically, every expansion is a pizza box stacked on top of another pizza box.

They only design the pizza box itself, and the next one, and not how it’ll fit on top of the other, older boxes.

At this point, we’ve got ten pizza boxes on top of each other, and the tower is beginning to wobble.

Each wobble represents instability, and old stuff glitching out.

Maybe even permanent bugs, if the boxes aren’t aligned properly.

And they can’t be moved without the tower falling over.

They’d basically have to work on the original foundation and upwards, re-doing older content with newer knowledge, and untangling spaghetti code.

That’s akin to straightening the tower and adding duct tape. It’d help stability a lot.

But it’d be an immense undertaking and likely not happen anytime soon.

I’m not sure they even pay enough for anyone to want that task, lol.

It’d likely be done out of passion for the game. Like when people mod Bethesda games to perform better, because Bethesda can’t be asked to do it themselves.

For as much as you complain about this game, I’m surprised you’re still subscribed.

It’s unfortunate.

Who, me?

I don’t post complaining stuff all that often, I just bring up issues that are frustrating me at the time.

If I quit every time something annoyed me, I’d be going off and on a sub like a yoyo. And I will continue to ‘complain’ if I see something that needs attending to.

I agree with you and also you are adorable, great gnome quality!

This thread is so good, high gnome percentage, but it confuses me because now there are multiple gnomes, multiple gifts, who are disagreeing.

I’m noticing it too. The bugs have been getting out of control, with no end in or fix in sight. Old bugs, new bugs and even old content that wasn’t bugged or broken before is now bugged.

Is anyone even working on fixing bugs in the game anymore? o.O

I found this out the hard way. After going back to SL to do just that.

As long as we still sub it’s “good enough” for Blizzard.

They’re working hard to retrain players to lower their expectations.

Agreed. But some people will say, “Well then stop paying for it.”

What puzzles me is how old content gets broken …

They must have been making sweeping changes to the code base that alters how many things work and their content update code miss a lot of old stuff that’s it supposed to patch up.

I think the examples over recent months of old achievements for raids suddenly popping up on characters when you log is one of the key indicators of a coding issue (and I suspect its linked to the recent bug with the Master of Turbulent Timeways mount).

For some reason changes to their achievement system is causing a sort of cascade that links to things it shouldnt. I obviously didnt complete a Legion raid on Normal a couple of days ago (as it was done back in Legion) yet the achieve pops up dated that recent date. Then we have a mount that is award for completing a set of dungeons over a period of time which obviously shouldn’t be awarded until the end of this current round of TTimeways. So somehow the latter is counting dungeons rather than rounds. And certain parts of the game that rely on achievements aren’t working right.

They haven’t talked about it because I suspect they either don’t know right now how to easily fix it or they figure it’s not worth the expenditure of time and that people will just cope until the next round of diversions come out.

That’s all my gut feeling on it and I may be wrong. It would be interesting if it wasn’t so annoying. :sunglasses:

There is for sure a lot of coding issues going on and they continue to persist most likely because they don’t know how to fix it or likely even know what they did to break things in the first place. This is part of the problem with a game that is 20 yrs old and just piling on to the old coding that the game started with.
Just this week I’ve had multiple achievements pop up for raids I haven’t touched in months with the dates for completion being this week instead of years ago when I first did them.

What Q/A team??? I thought they fired all of them months ago

Yeah that’s a good question.

There has been a bug for 6 years (IIRC) where low level characters can’t loot the enemy flames from capital cities because they will randomly get one shot. This bug has been reported multiple times.

saar do not redeem the 20+ yr old spaghetti code

they’re gone. this game should not be on the state this it is right now but we don’t have any capable hands upfront to fix anything. it’s acutally incredibly sad and funny tbh lol.
