Whatever happened to Nathanos Blightcaller?

I find it odd that we never got any resolution in Shadowlands about where Nathanos went or if he ever reunited with Sylvanas. Obviously he went to the Maw but it’s weird how Blizzard didn’t develop that plot thread after his death.

Not that weird. Sylvy is down there looking for him. And we don’t need to hear anything more about him or her, imo.

Good riddance.

Not really. They’ve left points like this to rot plenty of times. I’m kind of hoping they forget this one in particular to be honest.

Was probably turned into a toaster. The Maw was on autopilot when he died in the pre-patch. He had the whole expansion for Zozo to turn him into an arthas cosplay tin soldier just to be mean.

Cause domination magic or something.

It’s an opening for the next Sylvanas adventure. She is searching for souls, so she finds him, they start scheming and off we go.

Nathanos wasn’t popular so that is probably why. Players didn’t care about him from what I remember. Almost every topic or conversation wasn’t positive about him. Personally, I liked him. He sarcastically called you “champion” and “hero” and treated you like dirt, like a regular adventurer.

There really isn’t more to cover. Nathanos died, his soul went to the Maw, the Jailer either popped it into his mouth like a piece of Skittles candy, turned him into 35 anima, or shackled it into a random corner.

Sylvanas is looking for him while she’s doing her “recover the soul of everything in the universe that died while the Arbiter was broken” dailies for a thousand years, whether or not she finds him or if he even exists anymore is inconsequential for the story, since he’s actual dead now and is confined to the Shadowlands if he still exists.

That is completely in line with SL - missed opportunities.

There are so many dead major lore characters, they missed many opportunities to expand on lore with dead & alive characters reuniting, or meeting for the first time.

I’m just hoping he got the blue fart treatment.

Should have saved that scene for that arrogant simp, instead of poor Arthas.

It would be fun if she found him and he was one of those sad little spirits and he could sit on her head like Pepe and throw out snarky one-liners.

I’d hear more from him. I love that guy. Just a relentless prick who hated almost everyone. It was hilarious.

Tyrande ended him

Clearly he wasn’t important enough

we hope.

The pessimist in me says they’d bring him back in some way.

Remember we stole souls to make DK’s, and the 4 horsemen. Lore only matters until…it doesn’t.

If Blizzard wanted they could make Old Blanchy a void god. but logically, he’s dead

A black blood/old god Hogger would be pretty fun, I’ll give you that

:hear_no_evil:

i hope he comes back somehow, we need a good heel character and if any of these crybaby posts are of any indication he served that role very well
