With Blizzcon coming up (so exciting!) I wonder what people are hoping to see in terms of new races (allied or not), classes, or any playable content that should make a come back, or is entirely brand new.
Personally, since 9.0 seems almost guaranteed to be revolved around the Shadowlands, I feel like introducing new classes would be cool. Since the leak revolving Tinkers would simply not make sense lore-wise, I hope we see Shadow Hunters introduced. Since Shadow Hunters are unique for Trolls - and therefore the Horde - we could see an Alliance counter being Wardens, unique to only night elves?
Personally, I don’t think we should see any more races, at least if we’re talking about the Allied ones. We’ve seen 8 of them introduced since the pre-purchase of BFA and I think 9.0 should not have any. If there are any, then there should be max 2. However, I also feel like adding races (non-allied ones) would be cool to see since we haven’t been introduced to one since MOP.
What do you hope to see / think will be in 9.0?
I want more customization for the characters!

BlizzCon is actually short for “Blizzard Convention,” a reference to the fact that it is a convention that is run by Blizzard Entertainment.
What would tinkers do exactly that other classes don’t already cover? I feel like they are spreading themselves too thin. Every time they introduce a new class they have to take things away from the existing classes to give them something special.
What I would really hope to see is more character customization and re-focusing on core content of dungeons/raids/battlegrounds instead of some ephemeral new feature.

I would like to see the Tinker class added in the 9.0 pre-patch to any account that has pre-ordered the new expansion. That would give us a month or so to level them up and play through storyline introductions to the new class.

I think both of those would be cool, personally. But something disappointing like tinkers is much more likely.

That’s a valid point! They could always just revamp the spells and talent system, since nowadays once you hit like level 85 or wtv (I don’t know the actual number - probably changes per class) you are stuck with the same spells. AND talents stop after level 100 so that’s a bit boring too
Agreed, but lore-wise it just wouldn’t make sense to add them. When an expansion had a new class, it’s because it made sense to add them in.
WOTLK and Death Knights → Arthas
MOP and Monks → Because you meet a brand new race that teaches you this fighting technique
Legion and DHs → Since they “help you” (really it’s just us) defeat the burning legion
To add tinkers to a shadowlands expansion…doesn’t seem right imo. It would have to at least fit with the content we are playing.
I mostly agree with you, but I think in terms of aesthetics and general feel, Tinker is one of the few classes where that wouldn’t be the case. A Tinker class would not overlap (at least thematically) with any other class or need to take anything from them to feel complete. Their abilities would look/feel unlike any other class, other maybe a couple of oddball marks hunter abilities, but those wouldn’t really be the trademark of either class.
What i hope: A cool new dual wielding ranged class, like a gunslinger or something like diablo 3s demon hunter.
What’s actually going to happen: No new class or something boring added like tinkers that will be race locked to gnomes and goblins, ANOTHER character progression system that involves artifact power that we’ll throw away at the end of the xpac, no new mage tower-type challenge confirmed, player base upset for some reason(when arent they), and diablo immortal randomly released during the ceremony.

We’ll see. I don’t think they’re done with the mechagnome stuff yet. There’s heavy speculation that the gnome king will be turned into one and I think it’s extremely plausible. I can see all of that playing a part, still.
And it’s also a possibility that this class will technically be introduced prior to the expansion launch so that it makes more sense.
But you have no idea what that content would be or feature. Gnome/Goblin technology could play a major part of the storyline against an enemy that it would be strong against.
I feel like the opportunity to add them in would have been in BFA, what with the fighting going on, the mechs used in the war, and not to mention the entirety of Mechagon.
That’s a fair point! If it was done properly then it would be cool to see how their technology could be used in this storyline. Still, I feel like they should have been in BFA
At this point, it feels like that could have made sense. But at this point, they have already added mechagon and we’ve seen a lot of technology focused war campaign quests. At the start of the expansion it would have felt weird before all that. I think it would feel fine adding it after all that, at the end of this expansion. Especially if the pre-patch for 9.0 was centered around it.
I dont see how some people can think make this comment about Tinkers when there’s currently no class in the game that revolves around a sci fi theme with technology, mechsuits, turrets, nanobots, jetpacks, etc.

Agreed that a new class only takes away from existing classes. I see a Tinker as a ranged class using turrets, which is just a shaman but the totems are machines and the ranged is a gun. So, just GW2’s engineers but ten years later.
We need to stop adding new races and classes that don’t matter. We need more character customization options, including more transmog freedom, player housing/guild halls, and fun itemization. I’d like to see more open world stuff and less narrative-driven stuff, but that’s probably not in the works.

I’d like either a mage healing or tanking spec.
I’ve given up on the ideas of mages being glass cannons. Currently we are just glass.

Mage healing…
Their one and only move…ICE BLOCKS (that heal) FOR EVERYONE

Maybe nothing has that theme exactly, but I was thinking more of the game play. It seems like a tinker class would borrow a lot from Hunter (range and traps), Warlocks (pet management) and Shaman (totems).
The theme may be new but what is new in regards to play style? What would be it’s niche in group content?
I’d like lifted class/race restrictions, professions to not be insultingly bad again, gem slots to be static, crafted gear to be better in general, talent trees to make a return, “cross-spec” abilities to make a comeback, a great unpruning and for the whole AP/azerite system to burn in a fire and be forgotten forever.
