What would you want in a WoW 2?

In this hypothetical scenario, Bobby Kotick decides to relinquish a small chunk of his dragon’s hoard to permit Blizzard to hire a new team to start development for WoW 2. They announce the beginning of it’s development right now, while also stating that it won’t be finished for a while, and content development for current WoW will continue into the foreseeable future.

What would you be s̶p̶a̶m̶m̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶u̶m̶s̶ nicely requesting that the devs include or not include in WoW 2?

Ducks.

They already had WoW 2. They just called it Cataclysm. We’re on WoW 3 now.
I’m sure that when they saw how badly EverQuest 2 tanked both EQ1 and EQ2, they probably decided not to make the mistake of making everybody start all over again.

I would want competent devs

Mr. Quills, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

100% of everything I’ve collected in Wow1  I’m sure Blizz already knows this though since it’s what I always say and what others say as well :man_shrugging:

Other than that idc

Nothing. If the development of WoW is still going there is no reason to even pick up WoW 2. Tbf though, even if they stopped development of WoW, WoW 2 would still be dead on arrival.

No retconning, the story is the story.

Armor dye system

Personalized character creation UI with sliders for everything and full color customization options

I would hope it would have many things that are standard in the genre that are not currently implemented.

  • Movement. Better movement control while jumping. Gw2 is a good example in that you can freely control where you fall while jumping, this makes it possible to make minute adjustments increasing sense of movement and accuracy.
  • true slider customization. Once again gw2 is a great example. Allowing you to adjust eyes, ears, cheek puff, chin, lips, and nose in size and shape. Not just post faces. Gw2 is OLD at this point and still a decade ahead of wow in this regard.
  • armor dyes. With a “channel” system similar to gw2 allowing you to use to 1-4 dyes on armor pieces of higher difficulty to obtain. Example: normal = 1 dye, heroic = two dye channels, mythic = three to four dye channels and whatever extra bits and bobs are typical of mythic tier armor.
  • spell transmogrification. Like warlock green fire but much more varied, and many types of unlock through game play.

Class skins.

  • Warlock into necromancer . Spells converted to cyan, minions now undead variants. Void walker: wight, Imp: SL mini gargoyles, fel guard: abomination, succubus: zombie, fel found: undead dog.
  • Mage into chronomancer or blood mage . Glimmering Sand effects and time arc way spell effects. Sanguine effects for blood mage.
  • hunter into tinkerer . Shocking/explosive/mechanical aesthetics applied to all hunter specs with Mechanical variations of call beast and others into little robots.
  • hunter into dragon sworn . Align with a particular dragon flight and form a bond with a dragon, gaining appropriate dragon aesthetic skills.
  • Monk into bard . Channeled spells and weapon abilities utilize a lute or horn either casting musical note magic spells or directly smacking your opponent.
  • Priest into inquisitor . Fiery chains, word spells: shouting commands of dominance.
  • Shaman into rune priest or dark shaman .
  • Druid of the flame or nightmare .
  • demon hunter into archangel . See what that Naaru intended when she attempted to purify illidan. Feathered wings, holy spells, etc.

Class combinations.

Realm vs Realm 24/7 siege zone.

  • Vehicles, keeps, Castles, npcs, lords. Very well implemented in gw2.

Dodge/block action skills.

  • love them or hate them action combat is here to stay. Perhaps it would be best saved as a pvp mechanic though as I see it complicating pve encounters.

Mount skills.

  • varied attack abilities that dismount after use, or mounted Combat.

Third faction.

  • races and alliances of the worst of azeroth united against the alliance and horde: twilights hammer, kethir, dread lords, Gnolls, quillboar, leper gnomes and disgruntled members of both alliance and horde (looooooong epic quest to join). A group featured in lore, hostile to alliance and horde, effectively complicating future plot lines but never the central focus

I dont think any company will make the mistake of making a MMO sequel anymore.

Thanks Mr. Kotick, always nice to hear from you!

You are probably correct

I wonder what kind of style would be next

Something diablo style or a space mmo

I loved wildstar when it came out, a space mmo would be fun. If done correctly, since wildstar was not

Less of “top-heavy” game design, because the original has been leaning and wobbling around pretty badly as a result of perpetual addition of new “relevant 2% of content” layers. The rest of the game should support the newest parts, not be an awkward speed bump on the way up.

Maybe the entire leveling experience could be in the new expansion.

Every expansion everyone restarts at lvl 1

Bring back a story neutral Azeroth that isn’t timelocked to any particular expansion and always has things going on IN Azeroth and not just on the newest continent.

Technically true. WoW 1 was the best WoW. Classic expansions shouldn’t extend past WoW 1.
