What would you do to make Anduin less "whiny"?

Whether you believe he is whiny or not, what would you change to alter that perception?

I’m thinking the people whining about Anduin’s “whining” are whinier than Anduin.

Give him a sawed off shotgun

Just have him blast a few mobs into pieces and everyone would be happy

Advise people that male mental health exists. He went through severe trauma in SL and telling him “to get over it” isn’t a magic spell.

He needs to have a moment of realization where he stops blaming himself for being mind controlled. He has to forgive himself and become fueled by a desire to make sure it doesn’t happen to anyone else ever again, turning him into a juggernaut of Light that vows to extinguish any entity that attempts to rob someone of their free will: aka the Old Gods. Then he needs to realize that extreme worship of the Light does the exact same thing, so his powers begin to stem from his OWN inner Light and not from an outside force.

Then he will be King. And not whiny.

Good stuff.

I completely agree with all the statements that he’s clearly suffering PTSD but the nuance of that may be lost to many. To change that, he could openly acknowledge he must publicly suppress this. Appear strong. That way, when we see him in private breaking down, I personally think it would hit harder.

It could hit even more if he listed the trauma he suffered in that private moment. Not with tears but gritted teeth.

Force people to actually pay attention instead of skipping everything and making up their own narrative.

Boiling this down to a solution for a fantasy game where characters resolve issues through action and there is quick fix.

Put him in a situation where he must either face his own self doubt and use the light to save his friends or watch them die. One way he returns to a beacon of light that rallies his friends and helps turn the tide; the other he watches them die and that fuels his rage and he unleashes the darkness of his time as the Jailer’s puppet becoming the ultimate anti-light wielded. Would call this a Death knight or Void knight but a little fuzzy on what would be the opposite of a Paladin in way of lore.

In reality the boy needs to sit down with a therapist and learn to forgive himself. He has trauma on top of trauma that has not been resolved and he needs to spend time off game reflecting. A pilgrimage was needed but not through the Maw but amongst his people so he could see that they still have faith and a need for him.

I’d hurry up with whatever this “Character arc” is supposed to be. This whole self doubt and PTSD phase should’ve been dealt with in DF before they thrusted Anduin into a full on war.

He needs to come to terms with his past and move forward. Right now he’s dwelling on his misfortunes and yes he’s whiny. That isn’t a good look for a king. The boy needs to be a man.

By this point he would have been overthrown or someone else would be ruling in his absence but the writer’s don’t really flesh out the world and make it realistic.

Write him out of the game, he’s a waste of space and writer time.

Let the story progress because this is clearly part of a character arc

Turalyon is helping in his absence

Slapping the grey out of Jaina’s and Thrall’s hair.
Maybe finding a new weapon called “Chadmourne”.
Vol’jin’s head grows out of his shoulder.
EDIT: Maybe fight himself like in Superman 3.

Anduin is a huge dissapointment to the entire kingdom. He needs to leave. Not say a word or leave a note or something. Just leave.

I’d take him on a little trip to Tijuana in the late '60s. Cheer him right up. Or Vegas same time zone.

Yeah but on the flip side, once he’s King he can only move one space at a time in any direction.

Have him die heroically while trying to stab xalatath.

Just like varian the coolest and most heroic part of any alliance leader is when they die in the glory of battle.
