I haven’t really touched retail since classic opened up, but judging from a few of these forum posts it seems that arena ques are slowing down a bit. Obviously this is from the lack of people actively queing arenas, so my question to you is what could the dev team realistically do to bring YOU back to help make retail ladder more active again?
I know vendors, class design as well as a few other things are huge that have been talked about over and over again. Though I don’t expect a big overhaul at this point (calling adding vendors a big overhaul LUL), what would entice you, that is somewhat within the realm of possibility (and modest expectations of the developers) to make retail arenas thrive again?
For me, it would be making a few simple changes to marksmanship so I could be competitive with the way I want to play the game. I don’t want to log into the game when I am forced into a spec that I kind of feel luke-warm about. Also, even though this isn’t directly a developers fault, but if the game is good some of my old friends would play. They’re playing classic and that drives me to want to play classic with them.
I have the most fun in this game when I can que arenas, and almost all of my fondest memories include arenas and PvP in some sense. Just curious on what thoughts are that would/could bring you to retail with any sort of excitement? If that is 9.0, then I might also be with you on that one.
I can only speak for myself, and Drexia to an extent.
It is incredibly unlikely either of us come back to playing retail arena. There are way too many issues that are not going to be fixed outside a major game altering set of changes.
*Vendors are a priority.
*Alting needs to be easier.
*Rating increase cap should be removed.
*150 Wins requirement should be removed.
*Put glad back at a cutoff, title is basically duelist.
*Need about 10-15 more buttons to return for each spec
*Outplay potential needs to be there, see above point.
*Reforging would be great.
*Bring back 5v5
*Remove dampening (fix underlying issues).
*Warlock class design has the same effect as standing in the center of Chernobyl, naked. It deteriorates Drexia’s brain every time he experiences it.
Vendors, class design, and alting. The biggest two for me being class design and alting. Rogue/Mage makes everybody else feel absolutely horrible. Destro is in there as well. As for Alts… why aren’t essences account bound???
What if a group of people got together. Made an arena server. Like nost did for vanilla back in the day. (which is why blizz made classic available)
Make it so vendors are on this private server, everything we wanted back. We all flock to said illegal server. Blizz in two years realizes it’s more popular than current.
1 year after that they release vendor trailer at BlizzCon 2022. By 2023 we can has vendors.
This. But realistically what could they do to instantly fix a lot of PvP issues? In a hotfix implement templates and nerf the survivability of Assassination Rogues, Mages, and Resto Druids. I know a lot of people don’t want templates and want vendors instead. I get it, but I’m talking about realistic short term (rest of BfA) solutions.
Class specific elite mogs that have better CR spacing, 1800 is to low for a full set. Shoulders/Helm/Cape should be 2100
Elite weapon mogs at 2200-2300
PvP Tabards unlocked at 2400 that aren’t a fricken joke. Can we please spend more then 10 minutes designing these? An icon, some unique textures, something…
PvP tier set effects returned. 2 piece PvP trinket set effect.
For the love of god!!! Stop making horde sets red, and alliance sets blue!!! We like other colors
Honestly this is my core!?! Having all these things back would make me insta play retail again. Bleh… God blizzard needs to stop being devs and open their eyes
Some rogue+mage, and destroy balance wouldn’t hurt. Healers seem to be a bit better balanced then they have been at this point. Still not perfect, but better than they have been. Rogue+mage and destro are still way to dominant though.
Basically that’s what AT was, which was popular but eventually died since Blizz made it hard to gain popularity, then server died. Actually had so many good features tho, insta CD reset duels was one, solo que was sorta a hit or miss cuz it made team 3s die on that server but the solo que was still super good (only could rly work on that xpac tho imo).
I don’t think we’d ever get something like AT though cause that also had a few of it’s own changes for the WoTLK 3.3.5 patch
Def would be something I’d play tho if there was Blizz support for tourneys there and such
I have already seen a lot of great suggestions but my list.
Venders and a return of resilence.
Reduction in CC duration and CC in general
Better class balance while undoing all the pruning BS. When i say balance i mean no DPS class should have insane healing and CC. If you have strong CC it should cost you damage, If you have strong self heals it should cost you damage. If you have insane damage your cc and self healing should be limited.
STOP MAKING US PVE TO PVP!
Alt friendly would be nice.
Get rid of warforge/titan and sockets.
Bring back reforging sick of getting higher ILV gear that lowers performance.
Im not playing Classic like many or you. Holds no excitment for me as I have already played classic when it came out. Plus no arena, quality of life improvements and alting in classic is even harder than now. However I do see some of the appealnit holds.
The biggest issues for live with me are:
No pvp equivalant vendor and pvp gear rng
No attempt at balancing in pvp it appears
PVE gear being top dog in pvp
To many lenghty chores stop me from having fun ( no time to get off the treadmill to run old dungeons or even level up fishing)
In all likelihood, a little after I hit 60. Mindless bg spam isnt appealing. Also I’m a shift worker so I’m an unreliable raiding (and its boring).
The only thing that may keep me in Classic is twinking. Highly dependant on if there will be community, and theres also the huge time spent to make the gold to fund this.
