Hey all - I want to open a discussion to see what it is that would be the final straw for you. What would make you unsubscribe to the Classic experience?
So far I’ve noticed a whole lot wrong, as many of you have. My main issue is that this entire project seems to be vastly under-funded and unattended. There are many game-breaking bugs/issues (see below & bug forum) that people are literally begging for official Blizzard responses on.
To my understanding, it seems many of these issues have come from Blizzard using a modified version of their Retail game engine (in simplest terms) and very limited testing being done. I have heard the beta was not only sub-par, but there seems to be no test realm or beta planned before Phase releases.
I’ve decided to un-sub, which sucks cause I’ve put many hours into my Warlock and my main goal was just to BG for the entirety of Classic (basic, I know). I’m not un-subbing because of each individual issue, but more so how Blizzard is handling this entire project. No timely responses, bug issues that seem like they may not even be fixed (or may not be possible to fix), and the growing uncertainty that Phases can be released smoothly and in proper timing.
I simply don’t feel comfortable paying a monthly subscription for the kind of customer service and experience we are receiving as a community.
All signs lead to Classic just being a bridge to Shadowlands, but it seems that bridge is falling short and Blizzard was vastly unprepared for the influx of players and the mechanics necessary to create a Classic experience.
A few major bugs/issues (see public Bug Report forum for details):
Honor not calculated properly (since release of Phase 2, issue made worse by recent attempt at fix & still unaddressed as a unique issue)
Batching concerns
HoJ exploit for stacking hits (seems to be related to batching issues)
Realm caps far higher than Vanilla causing many “unforeseen” issues
So, I ask you - what is it that would make you finally decide to unsubscribe?
If thats all it takes for you to leave then good riddance. Your heart was never in this game to begin with and those bugs are trivial at best and dont break the game what so ever. You know what makes people quit? Retail. If i didnt have classic to fall back on, i wouldnt still be subbed.
I can twist it negatively or put a positive spin on it. Either way, I’m gaining hours and hours of entertainment for such a low cost per month. This many hours of entertainment doesn’t come cheap these days.
Although there can be issues, I’m not blind to them. In the meantime, this is a rare experience—to experience Vanilla WoW content again. It’s not exactly the same experience over a decade ago of course, but it’s pretty damn close. I’m thankful for that.
All in all, the only thing to cause me to quit is if I simply don’t have fun anymore. If I still find it fun and they re-release expansions, I’ll begin to naturally quit after Wrath as I didn’t find the game as fun anymore. More specifically surrounding the PvP super balance and classes ripped of their tools that made them unique.
I take the same stance with a game like PUBG. Riddled with issues, and sometimes questionable decisions by the creators, but there’s nothing like it.
I think some people make stuff up. They really go overboard with a minor problem and they make it sound like it’s complete doom and gloom.
Last night I’m fighting a warrior. I lay a frost trap down from fd. It’s obvious I placed it. So the warrior is smart and doesn’t walk into it. We hilariously both circle the trap and we’ve deadzoned each other. Problem is, his melee swings are still NAILING me. He’s far enough away I can’t shoot him with my bow, he’s properly circling my trap, and his melee swings are still hitting me.
Lmfao. I don’t take PvP serious anyway. If I did, I’d have made my own post for that bs.
#4 made me reevaluate and I cancelled my second economy account.
I technically cancelled the first, rerolled PvE like I knew I should have and am getting over how naive I was to expect wpvp to last more than a few weeks. The imbalance is not a thing for me, but the density is. Layering was whack…
But I would have gone PvE for sure had I remembered how goofy pvp mechanics were in the first place.
I just love classic gear progression and crafting alts, for some reason now
I have always known that vanilla wow couldn’t be recreated, but I did assume that blizzard would do a better job than this. Making 1.12 tuning and items baseline, and the release of the honor system on massively overpopulated, imbalanced servers without battlegrounds, are the two glaring issues that just point to them not actually trying.
That being said, poor attempt at recreating vanilla, is far better than retail, so I’ll continue playing. I have purchased and played every expansion, and Shadowlands will be the first expansion I will not be purchasing. between BFA and classic, I think I can finally accept that blizzard no longer wants my business.
This isn’t vanilla. It’s complete trash and I wish pservers were still a thing. If the endless ganking doesn’t end by phase 3 I’m probably going to unsub. There’s a difference between PvP server and one faction dominant playground.
