What would it take to get Ogres as playable race?

Orgres are as old in wow history as high elves. High elves (most of them) have evolved to blood elves and some to void elves more recently.
Anyways. The point is the Ogres are part of the horde I think since warcraft II?, just like goblins and trolls…
They can be mages, warlocks, warriors, shamans. So why Blizz never made them playable?

It will take a time machine. I recommend calibrating for about 2001 so you have time to get hired at Blizzard and affect some decision making before launch - or at least before The Burning Crusade.

It ain’t happening after that.

High Elves didn’t evolve into Blood Elves the only thing they did was change their name. The main reason we don’t have new races that require special rigs is because it would take them ages to refit all the old armor to it that is why Evokers don’t get any transmog.

From what I understand, WOW was already in Alpha play testing in 2001… Might want to go back a little further.

Better aim for 1998 then. Please be sure to enjoy playing Final Fantasy 7, GoldenEye, and Ocarina of Time on the journey to Ogre Champion.

Do we have anymore prominent Ogre characters that aren’t villains though? Feel like the Stomemaul been pushed to obscurity as well with no notable members

They could likely do a remodel of the Kul Tiran rig for ogres, like they did for vulpera from goblins. That would save them the armor-fitting troubles and give them a female ogre model.

Only problem is relevancy. Ogres are pretty niche.

You’d have to inject money directly into Blizzard’s veins for them to consider the idea.

I’m still upset they thought Earthen > Ogres.

Especially when we have two dwarven races already.

It would take Blizzard and enough players to actually care about races that aren’t Humans or Elves. Even the Dracthyr, an entirely new race, had to get an alternate Human and Elf model shoved into them. Just look at the comments of people demanding they should stay in their human/elf form instead of the Dracthyr form.

I would roll a two-headed Ogre Mage or Warlock in a heartbeat, but at this point I just don’t see it happening because not enough people care about having playable Ogres.

I would not mind having preset transmogs just like dracthyr if it can allow us to get ogres!

It would take shrinking them considerably. Tauren are the max height a playable race can be, or many places would be too small for them to fit inside. Arguably that defeats the purpose of playable ogres in and of itself.
