Warmode enabled you to take over towns and force the NPCs to no longer be hostile twords your faction for 1 day or permanently until the opposing faction won it back?
Would it completely break the game? Technically they could always turn warmode off.
Was just a thought, and its probably been discussed to death, but was curious if this has ever been a thing?
It would be really cool but that could cause the dominant factions to hold them indefinitely. In BC in nagrand there was a PvP town, halaa I think. That once you captured it during WPvP, you had access to a special vendor. I loved that, I wish blizzard did that rather than air drops and the battle for Nazjatar
If we had a persistent single world like Eve Online it would be easy and incredible.
In WOW you could add another type of Incursion/Assault maybe 2 hours long where the Factions would attempt to control Towns (control points). At the end of the Assault Blizzard would crunch the numbers and decide who was controlling the most Towns and who won. That Faction would control the Zone until the next “Super Assault”. While in control you would have access to special vendors, Honor, and Rep gains.
Edit: To make it meaningful throughout the expansion Blizzard could keep the rewards appropriate to high level PVE rewards. The Special Vendors would carry PVP gear. So that it remains competitive and not become a joke, limit groups to 5 man.
This is how Halaa worked in TBC and it ended exactly as you’d expect: the dominant faction controlled it nearly all the time. Notice how the only people who think this would be a fun idea are Horde.
If blizzard felt that way we wouldn’t have opposing factions and warmode in the first place.
Horde complains, thows fights by whining and gets owned sometimes too. Its a player perception issue, not a faction thing.
I know there are alliance players who would ban together and take back towns.
NA server would be horde simple as that. And then horde would cry and whine because there is no alliance, and if Blizz were to give them something like AOO horde player would whine even more because Blizz give alliance freebies!
In others words, look good on paper, nightmare in reality.
You are right about simply adding all NA servers. Blizzard could do those numbers easy, in real time, and declare the winner.
There would be a lot of details to be worked out and Blizzard would add their common sense and experience to it. I think it’s something worth looking at.
They have a chance to take WPVP and Assaults to the next level.
