What Would Get Me Into M+ Dungeons

That’s what I am saying. If there is a BEST way to run the dungeon then the other ways might as well not exist.

Don’t get me wrong I do enjoy the alternate routes, when the dungeon becomes so old I can solo it. But I think for mythic plus and a timed dungeon perhaps they should lock it down and shove it on Ff14 style rails. That would take down the crazed idiot variable that exists in mythic plus.

Just an idea. But my point is the same. All alternate routes don’t exist until the solo farm stage.

Dungeons on rails with weekly affixes and MODEST variability in trash composition, with less trash overall, and a focus on boss fights and boss mechanics, would go a long way to make M+ less of a nail-biting unnecessary disaster movie where one mistake or one uneducated group member can brick a key.

Idk, one mistake on a boss fight can fail a key just as much as one mistake on trash.

The point I’m making is that routes do matter and the best way to run it might be significantly more difficult / unnecessary for the level you’re playing at. Managing risk Vs efficiency is a huge part of mythic+ and you can see that when you look at the myriad of different approaches there are to dungeons like freehold.

Also, why do people always link friends and group play? Not all friends are great in dungeons. I enjoy chatting with friends and playing with strangers who I don’t have to look at again if my dps sucks that day.

Most of the time the Tank who is leading the group only knows and does one route. The route in the guide. And most of the time they don’t make variations to account for the group comp.

And the route in the guide is often a middle of the road route nowhere close to optimal that’s been suggested because it’s a good mix between efficiency and risk. Kinda doesn’t support your argument that “Everyone does the fastest route” when the route everyone does isn’t even the fastest.

There’s dungeons like neltharus and vortex pinnacle that are, give or take one pack, literal corridors of trash where all you can do is chain pull but all the rest have genuine options in terms of routing and combining pulls.

The bottom line is most PVE content has a shelf life. People in the past would run dungeons to get enough gear to run raids, then they would clear the raids and be done with that content. Running the same content over and over again gets boring. This is why I think M+ is causing widespread burn out in the game with most players. There are players, especially the ones that defend M+ on these forums, just love grinding the same content over and over again, but I think the vast majority of players want new content.

The true honest to god reason M+ was created, was to recycle content, because Blizzard has been awful at creating new content at a decent pace for decades.

I think it would be awesome for Blizzard to release more new dungeon content just like raid content, as the expansion progresses, they could add new dungeons that are harder than their predecessor, just like raids. This catch gear up nonsense isn’t needed anymore, since we have a cross server grouping tool. Players returning mid expansion could slowly progress their way through the initial dungeons and raids to get gear, instead of being handed it through some dumb catch up mechanic.

Most MMO players don’t care about ranks, timers and speed running dungeons, people really didn’t sign up for that crap. They want to play content that has a reasonable shelf life. Requiring players to grind the same dungeons over and over again for years is just bad design. Even with the dungeon rotation, you are still stuck playing stuff you already conquered.

If you read posts outside of these forums on the other gaming forums and social media, most people that quit WoW over the last few years quit due to a lack of content and they quit because the game is getting too competitive, too repetitive.

I play all the other big MMOs, and they might not have the raid content like WoW does, or the fun combat like WoW does, but they’re beating Blizzard’s butt in content that MMO players want.

Retail WoW has been distilled down to just grinding the same dungeons for most players now, almost everyone’s character progression is coming from this.

Creating content at the pace players want is not realistic. I don’t know any game pumping more high quality than WoW does.

Yes there are many routes that can be done. However most of the time they are not communicated in any way. People are just expected to know them via telepathy. That is one aspect that makes mythic plus so infuriating to some people. If the guides give one way and the communication is lacking then in a majority of dungeons the option of an alternate route rarely exists. If the system was put on a FF14 type rail it would solve many problems that cause the current way to be overly toxic to many people.

Thus back to my point. If the majority has a way
the other ways practically don’t exist until players can solo.

Wow, isn’t even meeting the bare minimum of content creation these days.

Me thinks that the raids are eating up what little resources the game has left.

Maybe time to shift those resources into creating content that players want these days. It has been proven in almost every MMO, that raiding is only engaged with by a small percentage of the player base.

Ironically, FF14 can put out raids along with all the other cool content the game puts out on regular basis.

Edit: I thought you quit the game too? LOL

Edit2: I knew you would be back.

Ff14 puts out 1 heroic raid tier per expansion. And 1 Mythic raid boss per expansion, maybe two.

ff14 has loads more things to do in the game than WoW does.

Not really.

Not worth arguing with a WoW fanboy here, you guys are all the same.

I’m glad I play other MMOs, because I get to see how lacking WoW is these days for content. \

Thought you quit the game too? You back now? Under another new name change too.

Not a WoW fanboy. This is literally my 2nd day back after a 3 month break.

I took a break. As far as “new name change”

Idk my experience in most keys I do is that the tank posts a route and asks if we’re cool with it, someone maybe throws out a suggestion to be considered and if someone hasn’t done something before they might ask if there’s anything specific the route might need them to do. MDT is a godsend for stuff like this and it’d be amazing if bliz integrated it into the actual game as an expansion of the dungeon journal, I must’ve done 8 different routes in freehold this week. FF14 style on rails corridors of trash not only remove a huge aspect of mythic+ they also make dungeons feel lifeless and artificial, it’s no longer a titan facility guarded by cultists or the home of a clan of stone people or a bustling pirate city.

The story and its routes would still be in the reg and heroic. But when you have timed competitive events it’s better to get as many people on the same page as you can. The timers can be tuned nicely and it would stress out less players. My mind here is on the majority rather than the minority.

It’s technology already on rails by the community, Blizzard would just make it official.
