What would Calia need to do to convince you that

Blizz in a recent interview said they still do.

BS.

It’s based on the story Blizz is telling about her. When she wants to hug it out and give back territories, she’s an Alliance main posing as Horde.

What’s crazy is upending a game’s main pillar for some hug-a-bunch nonsense.

She arranged the meeting for the express purpose of trying to reunite Lordaeron families in both states of living. She did this as a neutral party between Anduin and Sylvanas, who both agreed to and attended the meeting.

Some of the Forsaken at the meeting recognized her and asked to return to Stormwind with her. She reluctantly agreed, at which point Sylvanas decided to start murdering people.

You think Arthas’s story isn’t compelling? The Story of a prince who lost himself along the way trying to do everything in his power to save his people, making the decision only a king could make, and then falling into darkness trying to redeem all of the terrible actions he had to do along the way in effort to save said people… that’s not compelling?

I find it to be one of the best stories ever told. It’s why people get a dumb look of nostalgia on their face when they think about him. Yeah you’re right we will never see eye to eye. Calling wow storytelling as fanfic tier… do you have any taste at all?

And she didn’t listen to simple orders and got Forsaken killed. She’s either dumb or culpable. Jury is still out on which.

I can genuinely appreciate that though. It’s a meaningful gesture.

But why is she doing it? She has no real reason to help the Horde. At least none that we can see. She’s just there like “hey let me join you im also undead see?”

It’s frustrating.

Forsaken are largely former citizens of her country. She feels a responsibility to them and has done nothing but express an interest in helping her people.

Yeah playing a game for 20 years while essentially protesting its story and hoping it is completely changed just for you does seem kind of crazy.

After years of conveniently being a way even long after her brother was dead. But she suddenly has interest when Sylvanas is on her way out.

That’s it, thanks for the clarification.

That’s why I find it strange, you know? Sylvanas represented the Horde there. She died, and without much hesitation or internal conflict, any kind of doubt, or even any rejection from the Alliance, she simply became loyal to the Horde without much effort.

That’s the thing. With Calia I want to see her loyalty tested. It’s not enough that she asks to help them.

I want to see her use light powers against the Alliance, to protect the Forsaken. Then I’ll believe it.

Hot take:

If you can’t be arsed to provide even a quote/link or search term to back up an argument you make:

Just don’t make the argument. Leave the thread and/or let the argument drop and stop wasting everyone’s time.

Too little too late. She hid for years while her people suffered. To be forsaken means to be rejected. She rejected her people and when she finally became undead she shared 0 qualities in comparison with “her people”. She still can interact with alliance without being seen as disgusting or hideous, she has multiple quest chains talking with alliance leaders. She clears out the blight from the Undercity because she “felt bad”. That’s it.

She’s not leadership material on the desolate council, not by a mile.

I mean, the Menethil name wasn’t exactly everyone’s favorite after that. Can’t blame her for laying low. She also expresses regret for staying away so long - that’s part of why she started pushing so hard to try and help now. Characters grow, you know?

But that’s dumb though. There is no conflict at the moment. Is she supposed to just start a fight for the hell of it?

She should have stayed low. No one trusts an Alliance raised Menethil on the Horde.

She was loyal to Lordaeron. In life and death. She didn’t suddenly ‘choose Horde’, she stayed with Lordaeron and was trying to do well by her citizens, living and undead.

If the errant Forsaken asked Calia to join her in a journey to Stormwind, who is Sylvanas to suddenly launch an attack? I thought Sylvanas would appreciate the expression of free will.

Why can’t she just protect her people with her light powers against a threat? Why must it be the Alliance?

sigh

I can see this won’t go anywhere.

I wish Blizz saw that too.

No, not at all. It would be pointless for her to initiate the conflict, but that just exacerbates the problem.

It’s not necessarily her fault in and of itself. But we need some kind of conflict just to tell a good story.

She could wear Forsaken or Horde colors for a start. Then she should hunt down Sylvanas and kill her. Then bring her head to the gates of Orgrimmar and mount it on one of the spikes.

Only then will I welcome her to the Horde
