If Blizzard did do something drastic to improve overall gameplay (make it fun and bring back players) what would it be?
I’ve seen some people say WoW2 but would that make things better? Ideally new engine, they can start from scratch, make it adventurous like before. Would players be patient enough though? Would Blizz even bother to try?
Some are waiting to see what the next expansion will be like. Would it be worth it? Would Blizzard make changes in their system? Will the next expansion bring back their overall players (obviously not every player will come back).
I think some of this is what we should think about as players.
I tried to not make this personal (I think I failed LOL)
They need to put the world back in WoW. Right now it’s just like cities and dungeons of warcraft.
I think more engaging world content is the way to go. Something like public dungeons for instance. Rewarding mini world bosses that can give rewards at least once per day, and other world activities.
bring back glyphs and other evergreen forms of RPG customization like Thallia said.
Put the WORLD back in World of Warcraft as Lonnu suggested.
Stop timegating and putting RNG to everything as well as go back and correct some of the impossible RNG contrivance on old legacy content.
Learn to write a cohesive story instead of trying to make money off of E-sports and books, nobody supports EITHER of those things anymore… and if they do they have MUCH better options for both other than a game company that produces MMOs.
Having mini world bosses would be interesting if the rewarding is worth it. Should the rewards also be scaled by the players gear score?
Also I do agree the world in WoW is lacking a bit… Some would disagree and that’s ok
I’m perfectly fine with Pathfinder. But people should be allowed to work towards it the moment they hit max level. It shouldn’t be implemented months and months later down the road.
If Blizzard started work on WoW2 today it wouldn’t be out for at least another five years. Kind of off topic but I think it’s interesting to think about.
Look, people left in droves last year. Content creators that would play daily for many years put the breaks on playing the game and said it was garbage.
The devs haven’t once came out and said they messed up. (I don’t think). Not in a ‘meaningful way’.
Tying second legendaries to the new zones rep is just an indicator that nothing will change for the better until whoever it is that is making these decisions leaves.
The glyphs were interesting, its what made the inscription profession so fun to level. I also agree the stories kind of trailed off. also, lots of stories are being left behind, for example… the GIANT FLAMING SWORD still stabbing Azeroth.
Whatever direction the game goes in, i’d just love to see Blizzard pouring as much money/resources into expansions like they did with BC, WOTLK and MoP. I feel like their corporate overlords are ensuring that they only spend as much much as is 100% necessary just to keep the players from staging a full blown riot. All they want now is maximum return on the smallest investment, they no longer care about making a quality product.
This is currently in place, but I have to admit that it is garbage for the most part. When SL dropped, I leveled to 60 out in the world and do you know what? I think from 50 to 60 I maybe saw 20 people out questing. I think that World of Citycraft/Dungeoncraft is, unfortunately, here to stay. It is so easy to obtain massive amounts of gold now, there really is no reason to farm mats… There are times that when I’m buying materials on the AH where I wonder where the mats are coming from… because when I’m out in the world I see… no one. Ever.
My next question would be this: Are the servers really that dead now? So far, all signs point to yes.
Honestly, I think they need to go back to the drawing board and release a Warcraft 4 RTS to drastically advance the plot forward free of the restrictions of having your player base split between factions like WoW is.
They basically need to advance the story forward a generation in order to give new characters a chance to emerge and develop before returning to the MMO format again. It’s impressive how long they’ve mined the foundation WC3 and TFT set but it’s pretty much tapped out at this point and they badly need something not only new but far removed from what currently exists.
You have a fair point… it would take a long time… That’s why I also asked, would players be patient enough?
It would still be something Blizz should take into consideration…
I’d like to see that too. More about players actually doing stuff together in the world and not just dungeons, arenas and raids. Encouraging players to help each other, engaging world content. I don’t want to log in to the game and cross things off on “todays chore list”. No more of that.
