What would be a good race and class for a beginner

I want to be in a group, it will probably help but is a hunter good in a group?

hunter is no that easy man. Dont trust them. In pvp you have to kite while doing dmg, managing your pet, and placing traps. In solo pve, 1-10 is so frustrating, then you need to do your research about pet families, if you want a tanky pet, dps or pvp(cc) pet. In group pve you also need to manage your pet very well or you’ll pull all the dungeon and they will call you a “Huntard”. Thats why I dont think hunter is a good class for new players.
I would recommend warlock, druid(this is the best for new players imo), paladin (emergency buttons, healing, good dmg, perfect for new players)

For Alliance its all about the free mount and Perception Racial.

  • Paladin or Warlock of Human Variety.

For Horde its either the Free Mount or Ghost Wolf and Party popularity. (Get your heal on)

  • Warlock of the Undead variety.
  • Shaman of the Orc or Troll Variety.

Two choices per faction if you want an easier initial experience. That said I greatly advise getting all classes to 20 playing in a dungeon at least once with each to get a feel of what you like more, then nailing a main from there.

What race is best for Druid (horde)

Troll or Night Elf. They both have the highest damage output for their respective factions. Troll starts with 22 Agility, and Night Elf starts with a whopping 25 Agility, the highest in the game. Not to mention, the Troll racial is very potent with Aimed Shot, so they are the best in PvE. For PvP, it goes to Night Elf with Shadowmeld. Good usage of Shadowmeld is the difference between a good Hunter and an amazing one.

gnome warrior

Why gnome warrior.

That’s far too sexy to start off with

he’s short and can hit ankles

Night Elf Hunter. They are easy to play and you get a racial ability that puts you in stealth if you see a horde player near by so you can avoid pvp if you roll on a pvp server. Just make sure to send your pet away from you so he isnt standing next to you while you are stealthed. Because then the horde player will find your location.

The only race on Horde that can be Druid is Tauren, and the only race on the Alliance that can be Druid is Night Elf.

Are Tauren druids good.

It absolutely kills me that people say that classic hunters are easy. Compared to, say, warlocks, they’re really not. There’s tons of micromanagement and stuff to learn that isn’t very obvious (IOW, the game does a poor job of training you). Keeping up with pet leveling and training can be very time-consuming.

Now, don’t get me wrong, this can be very rewarding (I personally love the hunter playstyle) but it’s also something to keep in mind when recommending a class to a beginner.

Hunter is harder than Paladin. Every race is good. There are no bad choices, this isn’t EQ.

dwarf priest or horde undead warrior … both will get u friends early and easy help from players … which if u are new is what u really will need more than soloing as a hunter …

You have a character so look at the character screens for race/class combos.

I have played on and off since Xmas 2004 approximately. Knowing what I know now for a NEW player:

Druid - No (barely). But barley so. It allows you to try varying like mechanics of other classes but unless you like to do a little of everything and not be the best at one thing, I would focus on what you like to do (fight toe to toe, heal or range damage as well as pet/no pet).

Warrior - hell no for a newbie. Easy mechanics but all the teamwork nuances makes this truly a miserable choice for starting. The expectations are tough but if you like it you will learn.

Shaman (Horde only class) - hell no for a newbie. If you ever played EQ it is the Bard class. It was my main healer in BC. It took a while for me to grasp the group totem swapping. I was good but not great.

Paladin (Alliance only class) - Yes - #1 easy/forgiving albeit slow to level solo. Exceptional in groups. Never played though. Negative is it is alliance.

Rogue - Maybe. Never played but fun, can solo, but to be really good, you have to know the class. I compare it to chess.

Hunter - Yes but to be really good you better be good on the computer. I played it in a later expansion when it is easier. Lots of work with ammo, pets and such in Classic. If you have time and want to immerse this is a great class. But it is unforgiving at higher levels. I give is a barely yes above the druid.

Mage - Yes but prepare to die a lot especially learning the class. Much easier than the hunter. You have to like range dps and have quick reaction time.

Warlock - #2 Yes after paladin and you can be either faction. I played undead but if you pvp orc is a beast. This was my top main. This class fit me like a glove and was forgiving with a pet but much more work than a paladin. It gets a free mount like the paladin at 40 but that truly is irrelevant.

Priest - Yes and it gets my #3 vote but go shadow at least to 60. The leveling was good and this was another main I had. You can solo with ease. Not like the hunter, warlock, mage or even druid. But this is a solid class to branch out to many things easily and highly desired. Alliance will want you to play dwarf but I say go Horde! Forsaken or Troll really doesn’t matter.

I will say it took me a couple classes before I found my class. You should do the same. Research like myself. I am leaning mage as a new class for me but I could roll up as a priest. You are fortunate if this is truly a new game for you beyond level 20. The old world mysteries were amazing. Enjoy the ride.

Why a horde undead warrior, do they just have really good stats.

undead not so much stats their racial works wotf and eating humanoid corpses for hp …and i think the starting area is pretty friendly compared to other 2 starting areas seeming to be much larger travel wise.

I know. I agree with you. Just wanted to let him know about that.

Play what you like the look of. For the easiest classes to get into, paladin and hunter are the two that spring to mind. The rest are varying degrees of complexity but these two classes are definitely the easiest to start with.

Now, hunter also has the highest skill cap in the game in PvP and largely in PvE, so it also gives you room for growth. But play whatever you like the look and idea of.
