1 month after it was released by the best guilds in the world, and only 2% of total guilds globally had dropped KT before TBC came out. That’s a big part of the reason they both nerfed and re-used Naxx in WoTLk.
Because you can’t. No talent trees, quest givers stationed inside dungeons to hold your hand, that godawful dungeon queue*, last time Blizzard threw game time at me in a futile effort to get me to resubscribe to Modern I joined a Shadow Labyrinth group and my group ran through it in a way that would have resulted in a wipe on the first group of enemies when BC was current, the rest of the group flaunting their complete ignorance of every boss fight to the point where they actually managed, despite the ridiculous ease of the dungeon, to die on the Murmur fight by not running out of Sonic Boom (and then my warlock finished off Murmur solo, when that would have been a 100% guaranteed wipe in the old days), no frost tank death knights, no unholy tank death knights, no blood damage death knights…
Just because they didn’t completely revise every area like they did the pre-BC areas doesn’t mean you can actually play BC or WotLK.
*The dungeon queue was in WotLK, but not in BC.
I don’t expect TBC because that kind of flies in the face of the entire point of Classic WoW. If they start releasing expansions it’s just the entire game cycle all over. While that does sound super appealing I don’t think that’s what they’re trying to do. That being said, I’d happily play a TBC server as long as they don’t apply it to all servers. There should ALWAYS be Classic servers limited to 1.12.
If that is the case, as expected, I will make alts, help others level, go for full tier sets, push T3 (it won’t be easy to acquire, even in 2 years). Back in the day I did everything up through AQ40 and still had TONS left to do on other classes, the other faction, PvP and professions. Like, the whole game beyond one main character. I can play Classic for a decade and beyond and still enjoy it. That is why it’s coming back.
I really don’t think that will be a significant portion of the classic community. I would be surprised if I even reach Naxx. I’ll still be playing in two years time but I doubt it’ll be raiding Naxx.
I’ll go outside for a few minutes, reflect on a grand adventure, and them come back inside and prepare for Wow Classic TBC.
In retail, I’ll still be working on my dailies…
I see your point. As a “explorer/quester” style player I honestly see the content as being the same in retail BC/WOTLK as it would be in Classic, ie just a huge collection of quests and a world to roam around in. I do miss the old skill trees though, but the removal of them still does not make the game completely different. It’s the same game through a different filter.
I will make more characters and continue giving them my money until they change something and ruin it again.
Ya but nowadays you have maaaaaany more people whom make off a living from playing videogames.
It will prolly take much less time, provided playing classic makes them money.
Gearing up 5 tanks is gonna take a while.
Not if you already have them geared.
It got people by surprise back then. Not soo much now.
level an alt and do it again.
or play wow tbc classic.
In a year there should be a good xpack on retail.
Consistancy and all that.
Are you me? who am I?
I’m invested as long as it remains 1-60 classic Kalimdor/EKingdoms. If they move on to TBC I wont stick around.
Assuming Classic has no new content added:
After I’ve cleared Naxx, I might get my alt priest to a high level because I wanna heal in a raid some day but I wanna melt faces some day too.
Then eventually I’ll get bored since no new content and I’ll say a final goodbye to one of the greatest games ever made. I move on.
Retire to a garden world and watch a sunset with the satisfaction of a job well done. After that live in a cabin and pick weird fruit until I’m murdered by an angry Australian fellow cos playing as a Norseman.
Don’t really have much interest in raiding and gearing this time around if I’m honest. I suppose I might do MC and the occasional AQ20 AND ZG.
I’m not going into Classic with view to it being a game all about raiding and gearing.
Odd that you think that the people who aren’t begging for changes are the ones who are “whining”…
Lets worry about the next two weeks rather than the next two years
I’ll get far more out of the next 2 years of classic than I would without it.
In modern WoW, I play a few months, finish the content and cancel my sub for a long time. Rinse, repeat.
Classic is the only time period where I never cancelled a single time and made it all the way through.
Hopefully will be getting ready to play classic Burning Crusade.
