What Will Happen with the Red Star/Argus Rift in the Sky?

So, with the Shadowlands expansion now announced, and knowing that we will be exploring the Shadowlands, we will once again be away from Azeroth. After watching the cinematic of the sky literally shattering between worlds, I somehow don’t think we will be seeing it much more for a while.

Which got me thinking. I remember reading somewhere from some interview with a WoW dev or someone saying something to the affect of “when you don’t see that star in the sky anymore, it will be really bad”.

Was this put there to set up a future story line? Does Blizz actually have a plan for it? Or do you think this will probably just get pushed aside. I haven’t really seen anybody talking about it, but it seemed so important not that long ago.

Was just throwing this out there to see what people think about it, and if it makes more sense now than it did before with where we can see the lore going.

Since all we’re really dealing with is the Shadowlands, and not the Void Lords (the entities who created the Old Gods) you can assume at some point they’ll pop up. (And since they deal with darkness everything you can kind of assume that the star will go poof because…ya know darkness.) Honestly wouldn’t be surprised if something with Sylvanas “saving us” has to deal with dealing with the Void Lords since the Void seems to have a panic attack when ever Sylvanas is around.

Very great question. This storyline is dragging on from three expansions. Glad when sylvanas is done. I agree :100: with Roamingstorms post.

Devs like too continue story based on loose cannon & not have decisive storyplot endings on major/minor characters.

Eh. I don’t feel like they’re setting anything up just yet. They just seem really keen on leaving potential plot threads with an opening even if they SEEM done, just in case.

Honestly, I’ve been thinking something similar. If the sky above Icecrown Citadel is shattered, does that mean that the sky will appear shattered across the whole world for the duration of the expansion similar to Argus appearing in the sky in 7.3? Or is it just going to be present in the skybox of level 50 phase of Icecrown and everywhere else the sky will appear normal?

I would guess it will appear in the sky everywhere if you’re not in chromie-time (levels 10-50).

I was thinking something VERY similar to this. I am almost certain it’s tied to the Void somehow. I’m starting to think Sargeras maybe wasn’t the bad guy we think he is.

Sargeras wanted to wipe away all life in the universe in the hopes that new life would come about, and that this new life would somehow be safe from the Void. He was not dealing with a full deck of cards.
