I played an affliction lock, priest, then Rogue.
My only buddy that played a druid... I don't even know what spec he played. He was Canadian and was drunk 24/7. I remember being in AV with him for hours and we would get drunk and he would sing.
Moonfiiire, Mooooonfire, moonfire!
I don't recall what they were good at.. I didn't really swap to druid full time till BC. By then they were the king of 2v2 arena healing and i wanted in.
I know they did not tank, what roll did they normally fill? Healer?
He was drunk to numb the pain of playing a druid in vanilla.
More so than usual from having the unfortunate fate of being Canadian. Poor fella, eh?

You could also take 1 boomkin for the +spellpower aura for a group of mages/locks
. Also 1 feral druid for the pack leader buff for rogues and hunters, and that 1 fury warrior.
They were the best off tanks, raid healers, and flag runners in the game. They could level at a similar clip to hunters, which is to say they were very fast due to uptime, high mobility, and stealth. They had a very unique high skill cap PvP playstyle, that was very rewarding if mastered. They had a lot going for them, despite what some would say. Check out the nerf druids series on YouTube to see what they could do in PvP.

ya but he can't be a power shifter or the buff is not up full time. they are terrible. which upsets me because i love druids i main'd a druid for tbc and wrath.
Druids were one of the best levelers in the game. Efficient, flexible, and with their own heals and the choice between high damage, medium damage with durability, or even up front burst. You could frontload a heal, wrath, and moonfire, then swap to a form and use rage/energy while your mana regenerates if you ever get low. Later in leveling you could power shift, meaning convert mana into rage/energy by shifting in and out. It was really neat, and people on private servers have discovered druids weren't nearly as bad as they were made out to be.
Balance is decent in PvP (they do a surprisingly large amount of damage), it's mediocre in PvE though. Mana issues and not being able to use DoTs hurts them a lot. Likewise, Feral is good in PvP but in PvE they can't use bleeds outside dungeons, and their lack of a way to get rid of crushing blows makes them bad raid tanks. They're still good off tanks and good dungeon tanks, but they're not good at main tanking. Lastly, Restoration is a mediocre healing spec. Of the four, it's the worst with no niche other than the combat res - your healing is weaker, less flexible, and HoTs are weak too. Multiple druids couldn't stack HoTs either.
Druid is good if you want to solo a lot and play a flexible class. It doesn't have any particularly strong points, and its PvP largely depends on outlasting the opponent.

I enjoyed druid a lot during vanilla (still playing it now) and will probably be doing it again come classic, though I'm also considering priest.
The main thing with druid is their utility. You can sort of do every role with some gear swaps, but you wont do most things as well as classes that focus on that one thing. So if you want to min-max a particular role I would recommend rolling a class for that specific role.
Healing wise they scale very well in the later tiers, and that is the role you'll likely be asked to perform in raids. You'll be mainly spamming low rank healing touch, innervating priests, dispelling, and battle rezzing. There are also some off tanking opportunities depending on your raid comp and what raid youre in.
Pvp wise druids are pretty solid, especially at flag running in wsg, also pretty good at guarding flags.
One perk is you don't have to rez the raid after wipes and just need to keep an eye on a single raid buff (though this comes at the cost of not having a rez of your own for dungeons - group with someone who can rez to save on some run back headaches).

Just because some druids were terribad doesn't mean they all were.

Thanks, I mostly heal.
I loved leveling as a warlock because as affliction and the right talents I never had to eat or drink. Looks like feral is similar.
I still don't know what I want to play, lol

i never said druids were bad just that everything they can do someone else can do better(making them the worst at bascially everything pve). they are bottom tier at endgame pve. if you think i'm full of it check out some private server statistics. druids are the lowest played on every server by a good ammount.

Yeah, feral leveling isn't the most exciting thing in the world but its good, and if you do it right you won't need to eat/drink and are fairly safe from dying. The first 10 levels are horrible though, then bear form helps things a bit, and once you get cat form and a few of your abilities you are good to go, especially once you get feral faerie fire.
Druids where gods of world pvp but had a really high skill cap. You will find a place in raiding, don't like these inbred !@#$% tell you otherwise. You can tank later in the game if you want, off tank that is.
Feral: Best 5man tanks, not viable for raid tanking on bosses do to crushes, cat form dps was a joke. If you've got enough rogues/enh shaman/loladins to field a group, you might get a spot as a cat for leader of the pack but you're going to get a lot of shade about your dps numbers and whether your presence is justified.
Balance: If your raid had enough mages/locks to fill a group, you might get a spot for your oomkin aura, but you're only going to be beating the tank on damage, maybe. They really are some kind of terrible. But don't worry they get fixed eventually to be viable in *error* TalentTreesRemovedWithoutFixingBalance *error*
Resto: Good raid healing (as long as the other healers let your hots do their work), great patch healing in spiky fights (clutch swiftmends ftw) poor MT healing (Healing touch is inefficient, crazily so), poor 5man prospects since you only have battle res. Battle res pretty much guarantees a raid slot unless you're swimming in other druids though. Resto is one of those class/specs where they wish you were a priest until they need a battle res, then they immediately start wishing you were a priest again.

Druids were pidgeon holed into resto during vanilla, mostly because innervate was originally a resto talent but also because people weren't as educated and thought healing was the only thing druid did well. Now, feral druid can find themselves high on the dps meters only behind fury warriors and rogues, but they still have druid utility of mark, brez, and innervate.
Druids are one of the top solo levelers will minimal downtime, self heals, stealth, travel form, aquatic form, decurse remove poison, and one of the best buffs in game. They can fit any dungeon role for any <50 dungeon without respeccing. They are also great farmers and can solo many difficult elites. You can also make friends with some rogues and druids to do stealth runs.
They are relatively easy to gear since you will have minimal competition for tier pieces and quite a few of your bis are lower level quest items or BoEs.
Druid is well known to be the best flag runners and is guaranteed a spot in any wsg premade which makes getting rank 12 gear easy if you have the time.
There is probably more to mention but druid is actually a really strong class if played correctly and can do pretty much everything except aoe well :b

Warrior best tank classic, rest are balls. Like it should be.
Yes, keep saying how bad druids were.
More gear for me.
More gear for me.
HAHA don't look at vids or server 1st guilds from back then...look at only the pservers which have hidden modifications that won't be in classic. lol
