Now that Blizzard is wanting to make changes to the game, we need to see stuff that isn’t just progression based content.
Give us things like:
Mount Races
Jump Puzzles
Mini Games
Collections
Housing
etc.
We don’t need chores filling the game anymore. There are some world quests with fun ideas, but because they are tied to world quests it just feels like a chore and takes away the players choice of gameplay.
There have also been good concepts in your holiday events that could be used for inspiration. Look at other games that are popular now and notice the just for fun side stuff that is offered.
Not everything has to be tied to character progression or systems. Let us find FUN in the video game you develop.
I just posted a topic about WildStar hoverboards and hoverboard racing. That was a lot of fun. I don’t see why Blizz couldn’t do something like that. Other than, you know, taking up a lot of resources for a small indie company.
Player housing is something people keep saying but nobody actually says what they want out of that… what is the garrison?
The only thing I could think possible is like massive instanced zones players can build houses or something. Maybe pay so much gold for so much land or something idk.
The irony is that you might have some clever ideas, but the folks over there in “I don’t like Dragonflight” thread are off talking about how much they hate the new physics based dragon riding. I believe they are currently lighting the torches and about ready to march to Ion’s house.
I don’t think anyone can even see the forest through the trees. Why not have these competitions now that you have physics based flying? Mount races, jump puzzles and mini games have increasingly started to appear and this offers an opportunity.
Housing, well, sorry, my strong sense of reality tells me the horse is dead. Sorry, man.
But you may be on to something with this “fun” concept.
When you’ve played a game with really good housing you’d get the point of housing. WildStar’s housing was amazing. It was like ‘Here’s a plot of land, go freakin’ nuts!’ and you could build anything. I saw someone build the Millennium Falcon inside and out. I saw someone recreate Halloween Town from Nightmare Before Christmas. Some people turned their whole plot into a hoverboard park for other players to use. And of course some people just got a standard house and stuck a few neat drops they got in it.
So are people asking for minecraft inside wow or something? Yeah I havent really played anything with player housing the only thing I can think of is like Rust where you build your house but someone can come blow it up and take your stuff, I think that would be cool
Honestly, Id be dumb surprised as well if they did anythign like that. The problem always arises to be, there is like zero reason not to. They have the resources. Maybe if we could show them how many cash shop items they could sell with the system we would get it LOL. The revamp to professions would have some cool stuff with that as well.
Google stuff from things like ffxiv and youd get a good idea. It legit just gives people the option to decorate houses and use them for fun RP type events or guild meetings. Could even take that farmville stuff they had in MoP and add it in to have your own farms and such.
I wouldn’t clone it, but taking inspiration isn’t a bad thing. Heck, everything WoW is today was taken from other previous games. They already had a lot of this in game already. Brewfest had some fun stuff, DMF had some concepts to be developed more upon. Even some world quests we have had in the past were fun but sadly tied to rep grinding and such.
Take a few minutes off these forums and get on youtube. Find the launch video with Ion, Jim and Blizzard. Then find an interview with Ion and Hazel. You’ll get more answered there than listening to us here.
People on youtube, the ones putting content up, are pretty excited. You’ll have some details and feel better about it too. Most of they are being pretty uplifting because … hey … dragons.
It’s time well spent.
Hate to say it, but Ion answered the question on housing. Stay cynical if you like, but you have to listen to the man first to have a fair view.
Yeah buying was awful. But one thing Blizzard has been great at in the past is taking concepts from other games and making their own and objectively better.
The main point is mainly getting some fun aspects that aren’t always directly related to progression. WoW overtime has just started turning into a raiding/mythic+ lobby game. Id love to see more mmorpg added back in.
