What was your first Fantasy/adventure computer game?

Tangled Tales: The Misadventures of a Wizard’s Apprentice. Our grandmother bought us am Apple IIe and gave us a box full of games. I remember being so proud of my 12 year old self for beating this game.

Elder Scrolls “Daggerfall”.

Followed the Elder Scrolls ever since.

I even got the box set that had all the games from “Arena” all the way to “Skyrim” and addons along with the art book.

The only one we ever had was The Count, but I played a fair bit of it. Dad also had Tunnels of Doom, which was fun. Mom had Adventure on the VCS/2600 too. It was in the mid-80s before I played these (an '82 kid). The first I owned personally was Dragon Warrior (plus later got Final Fantasyh, Legacy of the Wizard, Kings Quest V, and Shadowgate). I used to play Pool of Radiance and Buck Rogers: Countdown to Doomsday at my uncle’s though I got the port of Countdown to Doomsday for the Genesis eventually myself.

I started out with Horse Isle: The Secret Land of Horses when it came out in 2007.

Moved to Fate as my Internet wasn’t all that great for online games.

Tried out WoW back in 2007 but couldn’t quite get into it. Probably due to Intenet issues…

Tried WoW again a few years later, once I got a good Internet (helped a lot. lol)

Been here ever since. Though I also play ESO a little, not much these days. And I used to play Diablo, but I sort of quit that one. I now also play Horse Isle: Infinite Wilds. (HI3)

And I ended up getting a job with the Horse Isle games, so… lol I’m an Administrator in Customer Support as well as a moderator.

My first mmo was “Realm” (first mmo, ever). It still exists.

Lol and you said I smell old as dirt?

My first fantasy computer game was a DOS game called Manhole. You went down a manhole and there was a world to explore under the city.

Probably Ultima 1 on the Apple IIe. The two that I really, really enjoyed from the early days were The Bard’s Tale and Captive on the Atari ST. Put quite a few hours into Captive!

Asheron’s Call. I still consider it the greatest game I ever played.

Anyone remember Jill of the Jungle? Totally different genre than WoW, but it was an adventure game.

Also, Commander Keen.

Yea, makes me believe I can still smell

Youre older than me. My first Fantasy Adventure game is Baldur’s Gate 2 then Ultima 4 and Ultima 5. All from Commodore 64. The best part was I’ve beaten them without cheat strat or walkthrough from the internet as I had no internet on those days… My previous country has no internet during those times.

Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. I know not much of a game back then but I enjoyed it and it made me look for more. Opened up new worlds.

Gonna take a stab and say Wizardry on the Apple ][. There may have been others, but I know my friends and I played that one pretty extensively. We didn’t even have computers, we just took the disks to different school computers (at different schools!).

Adventure was around on the mainframes, but I didn’t play it much. I was never very good at those games. Rogue was on the PDP at a sister school, but not really accessible to us.

My friend and I did, however, take several valiant stabs at writing our own Rogue clone, arguably spent more time on that than, say, playing Wizardry.

But if I need to stick a flag in anything, it would have to be Wizardry.

I mean I played Adventure for the Atari 2600 when it came out…

LOL.

I think my first real adventure/fantasy game I really got into was while in university (early 90s) I discovered LP MUDs (with my super powerful 9600 baud model!).

I use to play on Realms of the Dragon… played a lot of that game.

Some of those people got me into WoW many years later… only 1 of them still plays wow.

First computer game ever was either the Jump Start games or Casper.

First adventure game was Crystalis for the Game Boy Color.

Zork and Myst and Riven and 7th Guest and The Journeyman Project Trilogy but don’t remember what was one the first out of those, but it certainly wasn’t Riven that came after Myst
